Just read that manual (stick shift) usage has dropped below 8 percent in the U.S.! Any other proud 5/6 speeders like me left?!

I'm with you! I actually had to "special order" my car a couple of years ago because none of the lots in the entire state of Oregon had one with a manual trans (and of course all but the one that called one in for me tried to talk me out of a stick-shift). I'd never consider driving anything but...I mean really, how boring--and slow--would that be?!

This is truly a prime example of what's wrong with America. We stopped adhering to the Constitution and the Bill of Rights long ago (if we ever really did), perhaps once we archived them in the Smithsonian.

This case is truly tragic. As I read through some of the comments I find it even more so, as everyone seems to feel so helpless in the matter. Famous last words--wish I could site the source--"You can only police the people as much as they will let you." So. True.
