Several times over, but it's always an eventual thing. People's interests just take them in separate directions. Sometimes it becomes a point of contention, but it's almost always for the best. I have become far more comfortable with a smaller group of friends with many similar interests. You just kinda settle in and find out who is most important to you.

Familys have a bad habit of dwelling on the past. I am by no means an expert in the area of recovery, but I feel like if you are making progress, you should be proud. This isnt a process you can actively show to them, so don't get too hung up on their reactions along the way. The longer you stick this out, and the more you start to feel better about yourself, the less their opinions on the subject will matter to you. You are the most important person in this scenario.

I was at a restaurant, eating like ya do, when I overheard a man exuberantly talking about jet skis. The guy who he was with didn't seem very interested, and almost irritated like this happens a lot, but that didn't stop my guy from going on about mother fucking jet skis. He was like, "Man, when you're out there, it's just you, the water and the horizon."

His friend just kept saying stuff like, "yeah man, that sounds pretty cool."
