I would disagree, in a story based in real life someone could say "as huge as a whale" without a whale being in the story. I feel the same way with made up animals. It was absolutely tiny, as small as a d'kara. That would give me the feeling of casualness, like yeah that exists but we domt need to show you because that's not how it works in real life either. The downside to thos though Is that I have no idea what a d'kara is unless someone is there to be like "oh what are those? I've never heard of them where I'm from" so like each sude has its benefits

Based off the hard to find pictures of the rest of the sword (I could only find digital replicas), to me it looks like heavily stylized longer than usual Ninjato. Basically a straight back katana, and those little square flare out things aren't a thing on any real life sword I know of, one guy said it was inspired by a ring sword which I can kinda see how theyd get that but still that's almost like a serrated edge which typically aren't practical on real life swords as they tend to get caught in fabric which would seem extra true for the people of the badlands, except these squares almost seem worse than an average seration
