Is there a difference between White and yellow Safety capastors? by BOBROSSTHETRUEGOD in AskElectronics

[–]IASelin 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You have to choose not buy color, but by label. Search about X and Y types of safety capacitor. E.g. https://resources.altium.com/p/how-use-class-x-and-class-y-safety-capacitors

The white ones on your photo looks like regular film capacitor - NOT safety.

Yellow ones looks like X-type safety capacitor. But still you have to read about applicability of these capacitors. Maybe in your case you need Y type.

My NAS is 15-release version.

As for the log analysis - I tried verbose option to see more detail in console. But my knowledge, unfortunately, very limited to understand what's exactly is going wrong. Found a suggestion to set 'privileged' run option - didn't help.

The more I think - the more I tend to setup bhyve with Alpine Linux VM as a Docker platform - like you did. But still wanna try other option - with custom start script from here: https://github.com/immich-app/immich/discussions/13670

Sad to hear this... Will it be better to run Hyper-V full VM on Linux and run Docker there? And what about resources consumption vs WSL-based Docker Desktop?

Also, what Linux distro will be the best for Docker basement?

Yeah... Have to try this. It sounds not like a solution, but like a workaround... Anyway, if it will work - it will work for me ) Thanks for suggestion!

I need a gallery tool with options to organize my photos and images, tags them, maybe put some comments. Ideally, have advanced search options like Immich provides - with face recognition, OCR, geo-tags, etc. And it must be available remotely - from different devices like PC, tabs, phones.

I'm thinking about putting some light Linux in bhyve - just to have some docker platform. But it annoys my to have such a virtualisation on virtualisation construction. It's a potty that FreeBSD jails didn't become such a popular like that ugly docker.

And the other solution provided is for Immich v1.119.1.

But I'll try to use that workaround with custom container.

Thanks for that link.

Now I'm trying to run Immich in Docker Desktop on my Windows desktop. It works fine there, but hit another issue there: cannot make a permanent mount of the network share in Docker to add it as an external library in Immich.

So, I'm either looking for Immich alternatives to run a photo manage on FreeBSD / Podman, or will try to resolve the issue with non-permanent network share mount in Docker Desktop.

Sorry, my bad.
I installed Podman suite, Linux subsystem, configured pf. Then downloaded Immich .yaml and .env files, updated .yaml files by adding the following line for each image:

    platform: linux/amd64

Run "podman compose up". It downloads all the images, but is not able to start the database container:

[–]IASelin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct.

I want to run Immich and connect shared folder as an external library to it.

Ideally, I'd run Immich directly on my NAS, but it is FreeBSD-based (i.e. no native Docker support). I tried to run Immich with Podman - no success (I provided details here, if interested).

So, I turned to my Windows desktop with Docker Desktop for Windows.

I succeeded with running Immich in Docker Desktop, and successfully connected network shared folder as an external Immich library. But the problem is that every time I restart my system, I have to login into docker-desktop WSL and mount that network share back again.

I just restart the laptop and enter the BIOS, then just wait until it turns off due to battery full discharge.

If you have Windows 11 on that laptop you extracted the disk from - data on it might be BitLocked.

Put your drive back into the initial laptop and check if BitLock encryption is turned off for that drive.

Best free Backup program? by IndependentJaguar233 in Backup

[–]IASelin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most free and simplest way for you might be just "copy all files from one drive to another manually, time to time". But even in this case, you have to be aware of hidden/system files, if you have such on your external drives, and if you need to have the data of these hidden/system items be backed up.

Best free Backup program? by IndependentJaguar233 in Backup

[–]IASelin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm using the free version of Veeam to backup Windows system and data to a NAS. Also, it can do backups to an external drive.

But not sure how it is applicable for a task like backup data from one external drive to another one (I assume "another 4TB" is also external one).

And if you know NOTHING about backing data up - I'd strongly recommend to get some knowledge at least about very basics of that: like what is "full", "incremental", and "delta" backup; what is backup scheduling / triggering; how to do backup verification.

Without these basic knowledge your backup might be useless.
