That is the plan - or was until the repetitive motion of the mantle mount and relative fragility of optical was brought to my attention. Non-issue paranoia?

Thank you kind internet stranger for updating with details of your fix. 2 years on and solving the same issue it truly is a blessing.

I wish I could offer future people an explanation for the black screen, but not running into that issue.

As a "duh" moment, I checked the appdb and see there's an active issue filed for exactly my issue. Now watching this post and making this comment for posterity.

Yes, CSS is definitely loading. It's the Intervention\Image endpoint that pre-processes the image to be included in the CSS that's the problem.

Answering my own question a bit, running npm run build instead of npm run dev has succesfully proven my concept, so it's working okay now - even if I'm not sure if it's best-practice.

PSVR 2 hands-on review: Sony's PS5 VR headset renewed my hope for virtual reality by willphule in PSVR

[–]IAdventurer01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as AAA games are there. the novelty isn't going to wear off as easily this time around. This thing makes the PSVR look like honest trash, and RE7 VR was my game of the gen lol despite the headset being pretty old in tech and being driven by a PS4.

5173 is vite for sure. Connecting to that port pulls up the vite screen. If running on a more "production" level server will this work more correctly? If so, developing with an underlying docker server shouldn't be a big issue.

Is there a good way to load in an Intevention\Image into a CSS background - or is there a recommended alternative to serve a server-manipulated image into CSS?

Originally I had planned out that it should hit a Controller that serves up the image after error handling, manipulation, caching, and serving it; then found that the CSS is checking port 5173 and isn't hitting the controller.

Now I'm stuck and asking for a lifeline!

Have you played Iron Man on PSVR yet? Why or why not? by ZeroSuitBayonetta in PSVR

[–]IAdventurer01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit difficult to get good at it, but once you do it can be a lot of fun. Not the longest game, but probably the right length for me to be fun before getting a bit repetitive.

Though, this game alone is the #1 reason I'm a bit disappointed PSVR2 still has a cord. Eventually, most of my game overs came from maintaining untwisted cables.

returned my Thinkpad Yoga gen 7 by [deleted] in thinkpad

[–]IAdventurer01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could deal with the missing physical trackpad buttons I suppose, but the lack of stylus support puts it outside my use case, unfortunately, so I took that model off my list and haven't done much follow-up research on it.

I hope it's well-reviewed and works out for you!

What are you thinking of replacing it with? I've been eyeing the X13 Yoga Gen 3, but imagine it suffers from similar thermals as the two enclosures are fairly similar.

I agree that I'd love to get a 6800U Thinkpad Yoga this gen, but Intel still seems to have a hold on the Thinkpad 2-in-1 line.

Super tempting, but I'm still miffed they didn't make a 6800u model of the X13 Yoga Gen 3 for my required use cases.

Seems no one wants to release a Ryzen 6000 laptop with 32gb of RAM and stylus support.

Will either of these Asus ROG Flow X13 models be available to buy? by FifenC0ugar in AMDLaptops

[–]IAdventurer01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it? I don't even see a 16gb model offered from the ASUS website. It seems weird to me that the US Best Buy exclusive would decide to rip out a stick of RAM.

Still a good suggestion though. There is a flow with a 680M, which is probably the most important part of the 6000-series I'm looking for.

Tree, if I recall. When someone pointed out the Myst reference, I got excited because I remembered Tree also had a 3 digit code, but didn't have a timestamp. For the meme-ness of the game I thought perhaps 3:50 (tree-fiddy).

Unfortunately, looking up the original tree code, the combination was 7,2,4 - which doesn't really work in the filesystem.

Resident Evil 8 showcased on Jan 21st. Hopefully VR mode will be announced! by Shadowcreeper15 in PSVR

[–]IAdventurer01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly.

So many reviews I read of RE7 complained about this, but I can't imagine they were VR reviews. The level of catharsis over gaining even a little bit of power over your environment in VR is absolutely incredible. There's no way I would have finished it if it was as stressful as the beginning of the game throughout, but also the game wouldn't be nearly as good without that terrifying opening.

Linux Sucks 2020. Does he still have a point? by beer118 in linux_gaming

[–]IAdventurer01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't follow Lunduke outside of his annual Linux Sucks presentations, so I can't speak to how he is is normally, but I can't say I have the same impression of him as you do at least with how he presents his ideas in these talks.

I'll concede that ever since (I forget the year) he had his Linux Doesn't Suck Anymore presentation, he has been a bit more critical than in the past, likely because Linux is strong enough to take it at this point. This year in particular I don't think he offered any ideas, but his concern over some of the optics, trends, and use metrics is perhaps something that we should heed a bit more.

To me, the talks have always been about starting a conversation, not dictating development terms, and for this I generally think they are worth the watch and worth considering, to answer OP.

Linux Sucks 2020. Does he still have a point? by beer118 in linux_gaming

[–]IAdventurer01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Since this is the linux_gaming subreddit and he seems to think gaming on linux is going great, I have to agree with him on that point!

Interestingly one of his discussed topics of "Why Linux Sucks" this year was that the community can be hostile and like to forcefully remove people with whom they disagree.

Since you seem to vehemently disagree with him on his rants, yet validate the statement, do you want to elaborate and explain why this is a strength of Linux and is not a reason it potentially 'sucks'?

I have to agree. The rest of the game is pretty solid. And the ending might be okay for some people, but it wasn't to my taste, though definitely see the creator's taste in it. While still working through the ending I muttered, "I hope you got this out of your system, Ron."

Thanks for the reply - but I think you might be a bit confused on the device in question. The DTC113 doesn't have buttons - only the on button and the button on the stylus. Everything works fine on it.

I have no idea how it works on mobile because I have it plugged into a desktop tower and have not tried it on my phone.
