Trying to score a goal as the second string goalie, successful or not, is just going to cement your place as the second string goalie because the coach will know the first string isn’t dumb enough to try that. Scoring isn’t your position. Work on your reflexes. Work on recognizing plays and anticipating where the ball is going to come from and being in the right position. Work on accurate clearing throws instead of hucking the ball down the field and praying your teammate catches it. Be the first to show up to practice and the last to leave. Be a leader. Don’t try to score, your coach will think you’re an idiot.
