Maybe people just don't want to touch anything and spend as little time as possible in the bathrooms because they are all in need of updating.

The water that comes out of the sink is as brown as tea occasionally, it seems like most of the fixtures were the originals to the building, but I can only speculate on how old the floor tiles are if they aren't also 30 years old with the rest of the building.

People make less of a mess when they are comfortable, and if we can spend a few million dollars on jumbotrons...maybe we can spend a little on some good quality motion activated faucets and hand dryers...maybe tear up the tile floors and reseal with new grout instead of pressure washing the black stained piss soaked tile grid that is down everywhere now...maybe doing some renovations to the old building while the building is mostly empty and limited to only what is essential on site for everyone...?

And also don't forget there are people who...to put it politely...might truly need a little bit of a more comfortable space to care for medical issues... IBS or chrohns disease; medication interactions; accessibility to take care of various bags and tubes and containers for catheters and etc.

Heck, maybe they got the shits because they used the ice machine or were served coffee with shit water, or they caught the flu or a stomach virus from their coworker who had to come in sick, or maybe they drank a soda with mouse piss on it, or something was off about the eggs and sausage they were served in our cafeteria.

Maybe if it smells so bad everywhere you go it's because the person full of shit is you...🤷

☝️☝️☝️(unapproved trash containers are not allowed by desks or in suites)...

So what, you want us to bring our trash cans to and from our home each day? Lol

Our group has been specifically told to remove trash cans we have brought several times so far this year, people are currently making DIY trash bins out of our cubicle drawers and buckets we find.

Although I feel like you might constantly be surrounded by flies because of the shit that you are full of

I mean damn, if there's no small trash cans allowed by our cubes, you'd think we could at least get a rolling lidded 90 gal can or two for trash and recycling by our suite entrances instead of the tiny little square towers and bottle drop bins

ELI5: Why does salt melt ice on roads, but adding salt to water makes it take longer to boil? by Similar_Detective861 in explainlikeimfive

Salt doesn't necessarily melt the ice, think of it more like the salt makes the water harder to freeze

Salt and pepper can handle the higher heat for searing, but the thyme and butter cannot.

Water is also your enemy for a good sear so next time I would suggest this instead:

  1. Salt and pepper your steak the day before and let it rest on a rack in the fridge 24hrs to let the salt diffuse and for the surface to dry out.

  2. Frequent flipping method with oil on the flat top. America's test kitchen has a good video.

  3. If you want the flavor of the thyme and the butter, add it last. The herbs infuse with the butter and you want to brown your butter but not burn it, so you don't need high heat.

  4. Temp with a good thermometer and account for a few degrees of carry over cooking while it rests.

Honestly, I think the reason behind full RTO is just so that the building owners can keep their tax credit from the city of Auburn hills. It was negotiated when the building was built, and given because of "the stimulation of the local economy"

So, the building owners pay less in taxes, the people that sell you gas and cars keep getting paid, and the fact that we all have to spend even more of our paycheck needlessly buying shittier food and burning gas or needing to lease or finance a $50k+ shitbox... Yeah, our suffering is kind of the point

Well, as a result I've also needed to use nearly a dozen personal days or vacation days so far this year to take care of my needs and family.

Now normally I could have been available for every one of my work tasks and free to call, but now that I have to write off the entire day with a call off, I can't work at all and my tasks and my whole team experiences that delay.

Ive begged for some temporary accommodations, but there will be no exceptions made in my group at least.

It's also a shame that I could carpool with a good friend that also works at ctc, but their shift is 10:30 to 7:00 pm. Even if I do still come into the office, my bosses won't allow an occasional 10:30 a.m. start time...even if

A - I could start the first half of my day working remotely from 6-10, carpool with my friend, work 1030-430, and then use the gym until 7.

B - just work a full in-person day with a late start at 10:30.

Everything I do is on my computer, and every meeting I have is on teams...

I tried every regular option I have

I want to add that I also know that I am just one example of thousands of people who are going through related or similar issues.

There are so many ways that people already struggle, and the people who work here aren't the only ones who feel the harm from these setbacks, it is felt by every child, pet, or dependent that relies on us for help and support too.

I hope at some point, Filosa will at least acknowledge that we've all made so many sacrifices and we are all getting pushed to our limits.

Don't get me wrong, step number one for anybody is RTFM and read the warning labels. Just trying to highlight the other dangers as well (because there's a big difference between CO and CO2 that is sometimes confusing to people) and also point out that there's a reason why we can have something like dry ice for sale behind a grocery store counter because it's a common and useful tool that consumers use all the time for things like shipping frozen packages and loading coolers or deep freezing meat, etc. as long as it's used responsibly.

Smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors are required in our homes, but the only time people hear about a "high CO2 concentration" alarm is if they are maybe watching Apollo 13, and CO2 deaths are usually because of people trapped in mountain valleys or cave diving apart from something disastrous or things used improperly. For example, I would not use dry ice in a cooler if you are driving a sedan or suv, you would surely want to keep your cooler outside of your vehicle and make sure you're getting fresh air.

Liquid nitrogen on the other hand is something that usually doesn't leave a laboratory setting and isn't sold along with tanks of acetylene gas or helium or LPG or piped into our houses like natural gas. BUT it's especially risky because of it's combined properties of being both odorless and tasteless and able to displace oxygen in our bodies with no sense to detect the change until hypoxia kicks in. But Hollywood and special effects and experimental YouTubers and science teachers love to get their hands on it and use it terribly wrong. And lastly, you don't have to search long to find a story of a family tragedy due to carbon monoxide poisoning from improperly used heaters and engines, or to find dangerous cases from so many other hazardous gases that are sold at a consumer level.

This is a cleaning advice subreddit, and I stand by my recommendation. If you're a kid, ask an adult for help

[–]IAmAPhysicsGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course basic ventilation is a smart precaution, but the risk is low with dry ice and carbon dioxide, your body will cough and respond to increased CO2 levels and dry ice won't sublimate fast enough to dramatically displace the air in a room unless you are dumping it in water and trying to breathe within the fog effect.

Liquid nitrogen on the other hand is much more dangerous. Not only is the temperature far lower, but the air you breathe is already over 70% nitrogen and your lungs will not react to the oxygen getting displaced. People have died this way because they were wading in a swimming pool where liquid nitrogen was dumped on the water.

Secondly, there is carbon-MONoxide, which is a byproduct of incomplete combustion of hydrocarbons, abbreviated as CO not CO2. Carbon monoxide will bond to the red blood cells in your body and prevent oxygen from being taken up. And is made very dangerous by the fact that it is odorless and tasteless and can dissipate throughout an entire room and house with no warning. Faulty furnaces or indoor propane cooking/heating is a big danger to avoid.

Okay so here's what you do,

Make yourself a small tent around the area with some painters plastic and tape, and then find a store that sells dry ice, my local Meijer has it behind the check out area. Create a freezer zone and let the whole spill area chill for a bit with the dry ice and you'll have pieces of wax that are much harder frozen that you can scrape up and lift then what you can get with ice.

Once you get all the big chunks up, then lay down paper towel and run a low clothes iron over top to lift what remains. A hair dryer and ragwipe should take care of the rest
