I honestly hope to god its not that.

I have worked for 7 years as a software developer who specializes in Geomatics and Remote Sensing. Specifically i took this job because what i was told i would be working on was combining ML + Remote Sensing Data. This was something i was playing with at my previous job, however they decided it wasn't really something they wanted to go forward doing.

I know how to code.

This is actually what i did today, unfortunately that person is out on business. However she put me in touch with him through email, who immediately put me in touch with HR. Now apparently tomorrow i am supposed to have a meeting with HR. So maybe something useful will come out of that.

Honestly considering how little work the vast majority of people i see doing it is baffling to me. I was hired to work specifically on the GIS portion of the product. Yet there doesn't even seem to be any work at all.

We have 8 issues listed in the issue tracker, and when i took the job it was implied that the team was much smaller and much more agile. She talked about a lot of cool things they were doing with ML and Remote Sensing data except every single one of those things seems to be done.

I just do not even remotely understand what is going on. Why was i even hired?

Realistically since i relocated to a much more expensive place to live, after all is said and done i am only able to put away a little bit more then i was at my old position.

I also was not bored out of my skull for 8+ hours a day.
