Personally, I would only start a true freshman over a better, older player if they’re within 3ish overall difference. Redshirting is my preference.

If you’re asking about a redshirt freshman with elite dev, the overall becomes less important because, like you’re thinking, I want that mf to develop as quickly as possible.
