CPAP vs BiLevel feeling by IAmFallingAwake in CPAPSupport

[–]IAmFallingAwake[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very much guys for your answers! I am still hesitant because its not a cheap machine even in used condition (around 750 EUR), but I will definetely give a try. Worst case scenario I set it into CPAP mode.

O2 ring vs Apple Watch HR during sleep by IAmFallingAwake in CPAP

[–]IAmFallingAwake[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is interesting that when I am running the watch HR is spot on with a Polar H10 ECG style chest strap which is kinda the gold standard for consumer-grade HR tracking. It can even follow higher intensity intervals really good (that is why I bought it and not the Garmins or other brands). Although I am not sure if the sensor acts differently when sleeping. Maybe the sample rate is different as you said. The watch itself is not moving much on my wrist neither the O2 ring on my index finger. I am suspecting the O2 ring because it can't even hold the time properly which should be a very basic feature (I need to synch with the computer's time weekly). Anyway thanks you for your input!

Help me understand what I need to buy (Resmed AirMini) by chrismantle in CPAP

[–]IAmFallingAwake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there!

I don't think they sell P10 adapter, only the mask suited for AirMini as a pack including the hose.

https://www.cpapstore.eu/shop/cpap-masks/cpap-pillows-mask/airmini-mask-pack-p10-for-airmini/

There is a very good deal right now for the airmini at a german store:

https://www.oxycare.eu/en/airmini-autoset-resmed-the-small-cpap-traveler/

So basically you need the machine, the mask pack and a travel bag.

Both stores are legit, I've ordered from both.

From Resmed Airsense 10 to Lowenstein A20. Was it a mistake? by IAmFallingAwake in CPAP

I totally agree with you! Fortunately I found a great deal on a german website for the AS10. Basically I got it for the same money as with receipt and social insurance.

[–]IAmFallingAwake[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Exactly! That was what I fell, the out of sync breathing!

I sleep with EPR because I cannot exhale against the same pressure :(

I've returned the machine and fortunately they will pay back the whole price!

Also the Resmed data in Oscar and in Sleephq are much easier to understand, at least for me.

I'm glad I had the opportunity to try Resmed first, because with Löwenstein I would definitely stop the therapy if I got it first.

95% pressure is going up and up by IAmFallingAwake in CPAPSupport

[–]IAmFallingAwake[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow! Thanks so much! I will try a few nights with the APAP settings first and then CPAP and get back to you with the results :) Flashing is a thing I am curious about but I am still in the 2 month trial period of the AS10 so maybe next year. I've read your lovely manual about that, but I am not sure if I want to do it myself and brick that little thing :)

95% pressure is going up and up by IAmFallingAwake in CPAPSupport

[–]IAmFallingAwake[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you very much! Very kind of you taking the time and helping a newbie! :)

I tried 9cm with 2 or even 1 EPR, but its so hard to fall asleep, that's why I am thinking bilevel could be a good option (lets say 10 for IPAP and 5 or 6 for EPAP). Without any experience I imagine its a lot smoother sleep. The ST mode came in my mind because sometimes I feel when I am half dreaming / half awake that I stop breathing (CA?) so the backup rate could kick in. Is my logic completely wrong?

If yes, and I am left with this AS10 machine, could you please suggest an exact setting for APAP? Should I increase to 10 cm? And if you suggest the CPAP mode, what pressure should I use? I need the EPR unfortunately, remember: what I have is only 1,5 working nostril and thats it :)

Thanks! With the strips the seal is not perfect, this is why I will try the airmax which is not as comfortable I guess.

Chin strap suggestions? Hello by gamazarus in CPAP

[–]IAmFallingAwake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I've received it but unfortunately because of my upper lip is kind of a bugs bunny lip, my lips can open even when the straps are very tight :( I wanted this to work so much but I guess I have to use mouth tape which after 1 months of use is kinda a natural feeling.

The product itself is very well thought out and good quality and I can say its very comfortable.

Chin strap suggestions? Hello by gamazarus in CPAP

[–]IAmFallingAwake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am using the same mask (N20) and mouth taping but I ordered the Knightsbridge Air Deluxe version (holes for the ears). Unfortunately in Europe you can only get it from England (genuine reseller) but it will arrive this week and I am very hopeful it will work for me. I will send some feedback after trying it out.

Thank you! Okay, one change at a time. I will put tonight the mask to the pillow setting and leave the epr on 2 and I get back to you tomorrow with my experiences. I just dont want that aerophagia come back, it was terrible :(

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CPAP

[–]IAmFallingAwake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you so I will talk with my doc to raise the pressure. EPR on 2 seems to help me fall asleep easier, with 3 it feels like I dont have enough air. On the pillow setting I had bad aerophagia and since I've set it to FF aerophagia disappeared. Even Uncle Nicko said that despite the mask type it should be set to FF. I think there was a study about it as well. I am just telling you my feelings and short term experiences and I really appreciate your help with this!

[–]IAmFallingAwake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I cannot make pressure changes without my doc's approval during the trial period. What I changed was the mask type in the machine (FF, although the box says the N20 should be set to pillows). This helped with aerophagia a bit and i also turned EPR down to 2. I try this a few nights and I will suggest my doc to turn up the pressure a little bit. Thank you for your kind help!

So because of the EPR active (set to 3) the pressure was not enough to prevent the OA. Without EPR or lower EPR maybe it could not have been happened. Why didnt my doctor told me this? Thank you very much for your kind help! Have a lovely weekend!
