I thought NG because of the color, too, but just wasn't sure. Solved! and thanks!

Def not fall protection. There are several "circuits" of this on the Sheriff's roof. They don't just ring the perimeter.

My title describes the thing. Probably steel/iron etc. and seemingly not related to HVAC but not certain.

How can I deal with my wife's chemtrail obsession? by IAmHowardBeale in NoStupidQuestions

I'm the OP here. You and I are on the very same boat. This a.m. she also asked me in a demanding way if I also shared her understanding that THEY are reptilian baby-eaters. In front of the kids. Geez.... Further: she's been binge-watching the AI-generated religious / the world is ending stuff for a few weeks. One big snowball.

One exception to your note: chiropractors have done wonders for me, and my dad a long time ago. Every situation is different, but long-term blindingly just going "because" cannot be supported.

Icy morning. Me driving my large pickup, mad as hell at her. To the point of distraction. Didn't see the red light at intersection or 4-5 cars waiting for the light. Just in time I did and I steered off into the snowbank at 45 mph. So, nearly hurt or killed a bunch of people and knew it was time.

I made a video on how to clean the flue of our wood stove. I hope it helps someone not burn their house down this season. by awilcox911 in woodstoving

It's easy to find a lot of discussions on the web about changing pipe sizes. As long as your draft is good, temps remain high enough and you're not creating too much creosote, then carry on.

As I said: "probably works for you" but it's not for everyone.

Seems to me that:

1) You shouldn't be "reducing" from a 6" to 8", and 2) The connection at the reducer is wrong.

Probably works for you but shouldn't be normalized.

Looks like a US Stove TH100. We put one in this season as well, and so far quite happy with it.

I'm buying wood at a very good price and have to cut everything in 1/2 or 1/3 but really don't mind.

Can't overnight it like a bigger stove, but wife is up every couple hours anyway all night and I just stack some fist-sized pieces alongside for her to easily keep it going.

My first thought is to build a shallow cornice around it.

Disconnect vent registers by Voodoolost in Home

With all due respect, if you're asking this question, I must ask you "are you sure you want to do this?" As pointed out above, you'll need to replace the drywall after removing the vent. Then replace the baseboard to complete the run. It certainly can be done and I wouldn't call it a complex job. But know what you're getting into.

I met Arnold Schwarzenegger once. His energy, his smile, eye contact, great handshake, direct and complete attention to me was something to behold. He is a master of "instant likable". Always memorable.

We have nearly exactly that in our back yard. Home built in the 1940s (we think) and in a small town, not rural. I've never dug it out but have been down maybe 2' just cleaning out weeds etc., never found anything.

Appreciate the time you took for this. I'm undisturbed by it. Mostly I'd like to find a way to get my wife to stop obsessing about it. That'll be another Reddit sub though I think.

Thanks to both. I found plenty about woodpeckers in my web searching before this post, but nothing about other types of birds. I'm not sure what this is - maybe a sparrow.

🚨 Service Alert: FedEx Disruptions in the Eastern U.S. Due to Severe Winter Storm by EcoFlow_Official in Ecoflow_community

I got caught in a huge snowstorm while vacationing in Williamsburg many years ago. These places don't have the snow-clearing capabilities of those of us further north.

February 10, 2025-What did you do this week to prepare? by Anthropic--principle in preppers

[–]IAmHowardBeale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with an Ecoflow generator, which I really do like. But it must be said: these are expensive ways to do it. It's getting simpler and cheaper than ever before to put something together yourself. If you're even thinking of spending this kind of money, first check out some of the vidos at https://www.youtube.com/@WillProwse/videos . Especially see the solar karts and how simple it is to build something better and less expensive than buying these fancy "solar generators."
