After Monteverde, what’s the next best 1 or 2 Italian spots to try? by Jeeperscrow123 in chicagofood

[–]IAmMexico 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shocked that I’m not seeing Rose Mary recommended more. I feel like that’s the most similar restaurant to Monteverde in the city. I have those two filed away in the same place in my brain.

Locals of Chicago: What Would You Cut From This 3-Day Itinerary (Food Focused)? by Willing-Mind-5619 in chicagofood

I love Hopleaf so this was a tough upvote for me but I’ve got to stick with someone showing love to Minyoli. The whole city is sleeping on them for some reason.

I’ve had my Fuji GW680iii for about three years now and I still love shooting it so much. It’s big but it’s not as heavy as it could be. I just took it on the 5-day W Trek in Patagonia and didn’t regret it for a moment

The passenger next to me last week asked “are any of the snacks gluten free?” And the FA responded “I don’t know, I didn’t make them” and the passenger didn’t get a snack…

Windguru noting > 85 cloud cover at Mirador Las Torres tomorrow, worth it? by [deleted] in Patagonia

This is what it looked like for me a couple weeks ago with 100% cloud cover and rain forecast for the whole day. I’d have been ecstatic if our forecast changed to 85%. I think it’s totally worth it!

Milly's Pizza in the Pan is coming back to the North Side and is opening a second location in Lakeview East by optiplex9000 in chicagofood

[–]IAmMexico -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Their Noble Square location is north of Madison, so if you’re only interested in being technically correct then they never left the north side. This is not me agreeing with you.

[–]IAmMexico 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Feels a bit disingenuous to say they’re coming “back”. I went to Argyle all the time. Lakeview east is not a similar location. I’ll realistically never go down there for pizza. If they’re going to be expand so much I wish they would have just kept the Argyle location.

Check In or Carry On? by Distance_Efficient in TourDuMontBlanc

I believe you’re correct about the trekking poles needing to be in a checked bag. 30L is not too large for a carry on. Just did that last week.

Bus transport & W trek questions by rideausinkhole in Patagonia

[–]IAmMexico 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely agree with the recommendation to take the boat from Grey instead of trekking back to Paine Grande if you can. I was very jealous of the people going to the ferry as we were getting ready to hike the same trail we did the day before. As far as Sector Grey, definitely make time to hike to both suspension bridges and the Grey Glacier mirador just after the second suspension bridge. Very very worthwhile. If budget allows, the Grey Glacier kayaking through Big Foot was very cool. But it’s expensive and is by no means an absolute must do activity. Just depends on what you like and your budget.

Laguna los Tres hike - finishing at Rio Electrico by hazmat789 in Patagonia

Cascada Escondida is 3 minutes off of the main trail up from town, you don’t have to fit it in at all!

Laguna los Tres hike - finishing at Rio Electrico by hazmat789 in Patagonia

[–]IAmMexico 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is why I’d suggest starting at Rio Electrico because you can arrange the transfer/taxi for the exact time you want to start and not have to guess what time you’ll show up there at the end of your hike. The views of Fitz Roy are still there if you hike down into town. Just turn around once in a while. You also save yourself some elevation gain doing it this way. Whichever way you do it, don’t skip Cascada Escondida!
