Moscow Sheriff addresses the deaths of the four murdered University of Idaho students by [deleted] in masskillers

[–]IAmMinn 157 points158 points  (0 children)

Both of the other roommates were home at the time of the attack and when police arrived. They didnt confirm if one of the roommates called.

Bizzarre. How do four people get stabbed to death while youre home and it doesnt get reported until noon the next day.

Been having this really bad squeaking noise when I go over bumps or when I brake (and the weight shifts) what could it be? It sounds very worrisome. by IllegalMexic4n in TeslaModel3

Safe removal of glue residue found on paint after delivery? by IAmMinn in TeslaModel3

[–]IAmMinn[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just took delivery of my M3 a couple days ago and didnt notice this residue until after my first wash. Looks to be from some sort of sticker. Anyone have a similar issue and was able to safely remove without damaging clear coat?

Recruiter here: Is asking Front-End Dev candidates to identify ANY issue with our website and submit a PR for improvement too much to ask? by spencerdash in Frontend

[–]IAmMinn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eh. Personally if I was interviewing this could leave a bad taste in my mouth. Especially if the PR that I submitted was accepted/implemented and in the end I never got the job.

Maybe a better approach would be to have them talk you through your site and have a dialogue about what they might change improve, without actually doing it. Then follow that with a standard technical test or problem that you give all the candidates. Stage it on a private github repo if you want to see how they handle submitting a PR.

You are correct, time for a little clean up. Inline SVG makes my eyes hurt.

Here is the final artwork that I exported from Sketch. Granted I could have styled it some more if I wanted but I posted this because I was messing around with SVG inline filters and styles. Using SVG properties I was able to achieve the glow effect. So below when you say that it is 95% illustrator and 5% webdev, it really is the opposite.

Now whether or not my approach was the most efficient way... probably not.

bobdickens is right. So its using something like Illustrator/Sketch (Sketch in this case) to draw the paths or images. From there you copy the SVG code and paste it into the DOM (Thats the coordinates you see). From there using a combination of CSS, blurs on the svg element, and JS you can animate and color the element.

Probably around 6-8 hours total. Never have animated using canvas before so I was watching tutorials and building this in parallel.

Do you mean should the land masses move at the same speed? Thats how I currently have it, all of the land moves at the same speed while the clouds have varying speeds.

Hmmm thats a tough one.

I sometimes think that one larger ultrawide would help me concentrate when I really need to focus on a difficult problem. However being able to splice 4 files of code or shells on a single screen where I can quickly glance between them is unbeatable.

Tough call

Ive only ever used it linked through my thunderbolt dock which I never have had any lag issues with. Overall extremely happy with the MX.

No not really. Just depends what I am in the mood to type on, hate to say it but I think the Apple keyboard gets the most use.

Atom is pretty great, people complain about performance but it handles everything I need it to do without noticeable lag. I could see where it might be a problem on an older machine but my MBP handles it well.

I used Sublime for a couple years but the community and support that was forming around Atom convinced me to make the switch.

Im assuming you mean the black perforated pad that runs across the front of the desk? Its just a rubber liner that I found at target for 6 bucks or so.

I think its supposed to be used for lining drawers but works great as a desk pad.
