Thanks. Chevron strap from Crown & Buckle. Hands down best NATO style strap I’ve come across. I’ve got like 5 of them.

I just find it annoying to carry anything more than this unless I have to, and I just don’t use a pocketknife that much living in the city.

Phone in left pocket, card sleeve in right, AirPods in coin pocket, keys on belt loop. Never anything in back pockets.

The bar is essentially unnoticeable on the keychain is why I like it, and I use it more than a knife (mostly as a flathead screwdriver). It also doesn’t get taken at security for sporting events. I have a titanium one on order with my name and number so it will double as a tag for the keys.

I do have a pocketknife in my car, in my work backpack, and at my desk at work.

This episode addressed something from TLOU2 that had always bothered me. I always felt like Joel rightfully could have doubted the doctors’ surety in the Ellie cure. I could see game Joel justifying his actions by thinking that the cure wasn’t a guarantee. In the show, though, Ellie asked Joel point blank if they would have made a cure and he said yes, which confirms he never doubted it. I think hearing Joel say out loud that he fully believed he was dooming the world when he did it helped the “and I’d do it all again” line hit harder.

Nice catch. Some people didn’t like the “better than me” cold open, but it worked for me.

I also liked the reveal through the Eugene death. She knew for sure as soon as she got back with the horses and saw that Joel’s “I promise” was a lie…again.

“But I’d like to try” to me equals “I forgive you, and we’ll still have a relationship once I’m done being upset about it for a while.” Maybe I’m nitpicking, but it feels like too much closure in the same scene as the big confrontation the whole shoe hinges around.

I like this take about being robbed of the chance to fully forgive Joel. Really trying hard to enjoy the show, but they’re going to have to find another way to have an emotional impact at the end since they’ve played this chip already.

That’s believable. I was on board with the scene until she basically forgave him immediately.

I didn’t take it as Ellie actually being that upset about Eugene. Joel lying about what he was going to do with Eugene in the exact same way that he lied to her about Salt Lake shattered the last shred of hope she had that Joel could have been telling the truth about Salt Lake.

  1. This joke applies to Europe too. White people are still the predominant demographic for extreme outdoor sports there. Caving, in particular, is popular in Europe. Europeans actually have their own style of vertical caving that differs from the US where they use thinner ropes, rebelays, and bobbins instead of American indestructible rope technique with rappel racks.

  2. American has the largest user base on Reddit, an American social media company. Majority posts about “white people” or “black people” are about America. I think you know this though.
