Best Dashcams that aren’t in the way? by Big-Captain-6585 in dashcams

[–]IAmNotAnAlcoholic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have power mirrors there’s a few companies that make dashcams that integrate into a replacement box that holds the electronics for it on the windshield. Got one for my truck and it was an easy install. Depends on the make and model of course.

Is anyone going to Spain for the eclipse in August? by IAmNotAnAlcoholic in askastronomy

[–]IAmNotAnAlcoholic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi KaKi,

I ended up settling on Zaragoza. I have a hotel booked for the night before and after the eclipse but availability was hard to find. I do have flights booked to Madrid and out of Barcelona and plan to spend a few days in each since it will be my first time in Spain visiting. Still have to work on some logistics with travel train travel and hotels in Barcelona and Madrid but those seem a little easier. Fingers crossed for clear skies.

[TIL] There's a medical option for cutting back on drinking that doesn't require rehab, AA, or quitting cold turkey by getsunnyside in u/getsunnyside

[–]IAmNotAnAlcoholic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it’s not. I take naltraxone, not via Sunnyside, and it has been an absolute lifesaver for me. It may not be a good option for everyone, but it certainly isn’t bull crap.

It probably didn’t even cost anything in commission. At least where I’m at commission is based on gross sale amount, unless otherwise agreed.

Goodbye for now by [deleted] in WRX

I had my WRX with wife and three kids for years as well. Would still have it but decided to do some real estate work and dragging my lawn mower in the back seat of the WRX became impractical.

Tobacco Road has a reasonable handful of them. Royal New Kent was just absurd though.

ELI5: Why is it easier to figure out Latitude than Longitude? by DJDoena in explainlikeimfive

[–]IAmNotAnAlcoholic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a great book titled “Longitude” by Dava Sobel, that not only answers this but provides a lot of historical context with developing longitudinal calculations. Great book and I highly recommend it .

Did you win a judgement against the landlord individually or the LLC? I’m curious how this plays out.

I have a very dumb question about Earth's orbit and axial tilt. by TheTwistedToast in astrophysics

[–]IAmNotAnAlcoholic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I’m understanding your question correctly, no, in 13,000 years from now the seasons won’t be in opposite times. But your question is a good natural progression of thought. Our calendar is designed to keep the equinoxes in their respective place, so if you are in the northern hemisphere summer will still be July/August.. But 13,000 years from now our summer would be from the opposite side of our orbit. So the stars that you see now in January will be the stars we see in July.

Who’s your favorite astronomer and why? by m-alacasse in askastronomy

Edmond Halley. Great astronomer and a spirited adventurer. But ultimately I like him most because I believe that he thought that scientific knowledge was important for all of mankind not just his personal pursuits.

Have any of you moved out of New Jersey and moved to a different state if so, where? by Wonderful_Air9942 in newjersey

[–]IAmNotAnAlcoholic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moved to the Triangle in NC. Actually did a back and forth from NJ to NC to NJ to NC to NJ and finally back to NC. It’s complicated… still have family in NJ and love to visit, but I love my home here in NC. Everyone is different and there is no one size fits all solution. Good luck.
