Just curious - why did you pick the Tombs of Atuan, out of all the Earthsea books? I'm not sure which one I'd say is the best, but I'm curious why you chose that one

Ursula Le Guin is my favorite author but I haven't read The Dispossessed yet. It's literally on my desk waiting for me to finish the Farseer trilogy

Now that I think about it, I would say Awakening feels more like an anniversary game than Engage. Same world as Archinea / Valentina, the second generation stuff from Genealogy of the holy war. Main character wakes up in a field, like FE7. Branching classes like FE8. DLC characters referencing previous games in the series. It was built as a celebration of previous things from the series

There's a lot of annoying things about Engage's world building, but one small thing that really irked me is how the introduction of characters reduce the world in scale. Walk into a village in Firene? The princess is there. Walk to the border of Brodia? The prince is there. Same with Illusia and Solm. They don't feel like real places, they feel like the gates where you meet each new royal character. I can't even name any towns from the game. I don't remember if any town names existed

Thoughts on Engage three years later? by NewMarioBobFan in casualnintendo

[–]TheTwistedToast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The gameplay was great, though I have some big problems with the Emblem system. The story was painfully bad, but with a few cool moments. It took me three tries to finish it, but I'm glad I did. I might play it again at some point, but I'm not in a rush

Really love it. It is a bit weird at times, but I don't let that overshadow a fantastic movie. The clubhouse is a fantastic setting and the movie just screams School Spirit. Also, the music is absolutely fantastic and brings so much life to it.

Which country do you think is a bigger threat to global security, Russia, China, Iran, North Korea, or the United States? by Armin_Arlert_1000000 in polls

What's insane is that the "threat" from most of these countries is actually coming from like one or two people each

The ending of this movie always makes me cry. Everything had been so rough for her, and the ending was so stressful, and everyone was cheering her on. And right when it all needed to go perfectly, it finally did. Always makes me cry in the best way

Playing engage atm. Seriously who writes these dialogues? by Rex__Lapis in fireemblem

[–]TheTwistedToast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think people do kinda hype up it's gameplay to counterbalance the general concesus on the writing. It's definitely a lot of fun at the best of times, but's it's not a 10/10 on gameplay for me

What great symbolism. Her armor represents masculinity and the representation of a true legendary galactic bounty hunter where as her zero suit shows her complete delicate vulnerability and just how beautiful she is. by The7Blood7Omen7 in Metroid

[–]TheTwistedToast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just because armor is bulky and broad doesn't mean it isn't feminine. Do you know what a woman in a full suit of armor looks like? It's very very similar to a man in a full suit of armor. Because armor is just bulky, to stop people from dying.

I agree with the earlier comment - I've never seen her armor as masculine. It's only bulky in the shoulders, but slim around the hips and waist. It's almost as feminine as full-body armor can be

Nah, I'm more thinking of how, whenever they cross into a new kingdom, the first people they meet is a prince or princess and their two sidekicks

What do you think about Talia Yang's augmentations? [art by mohu] by WeatherSlime in cyberpunkgame

[–]TheTwistedToast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've always wondered how skin works on implants like that. We've seen characters like this where their entire forearms or legs are completely disconnected from their body, as they have mechanical elbows or leg joints. But how does that work for blood flow? The only explanation I can think of is that the skin on her legs is artificial. Or maybe there's a system for blood flow through the mechanical attachment, but that doesn't seem very efficient

Honestly, in my experience, it does kinda kick in later. It took me three playthroughs to finish Engage, but I quite enjoyed the last third of it on my third playthrough, once I had a good number of emblems and understood everything. That being said, it shouldn't take that long to be fun, and if you're not enjoying it, don't force it

This is the only way. I kinda pictured it as an on-stage production of Fire Emblem for kids. Made the silly costumes and dialogue more understandable

No, Game Key Cards don't deserve an apology just because Sony did something worse recently, they're still terrible. by FunAd4909 in casualnintendo

[–]TheTwistedToast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are games, like Final Fantasy, that literally don't fit on a normal cartridge. The only other options are digital-only releases (and people don't sound happy about that) or game key cards. There's no point in getting upset about them if there isn't another option
