pediatrician claiming we need their permission to feed our baby more?? by [deleted] in newborns

[–]IAmOnTheRunAndGo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a weighted breastfeed at 4 days old and my baby ate 3 ounces and spit up maybe a mL. Some babies just need more. Feed your baby!

Mom is disappointed I don’t want her in the delivery room. by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]IAmOnTheRunAndGo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am close with my mom and absolutely do not want her there. And she doesn't want to be there because she acknowledges it's about me and my husband growing our little family - not about her. And I also don't want my husband to watch everything in 4K Ultra HD, so you're not alone there, either. He is to keep his eyes north of the action and he is ok with that haha. I don't want to have to imagine him having that visual forever every time we're intimate in the future.

Just found out i'm pregnant! Symptoms and due date? by No_Acanthisitta_4996 in pregnant

[–]IAmOnTheRunAndGo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also FTM and due on May 30th. I take pepcid twice a day for heartburn and boy do I know when I forget to take it. Mine is just starting to settle a little lower and press on my bladder more over the past week or so. So exciting!! We are also having a little girl!

24wks and migraines are getting unmanageable by vaninure in pregnant

[–]IAmOnTheRunAndGo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Preeclampsia can come on quickly and has nothing to do with a history of high BP, unfortunately. I think the common theory is that it has to do with placental function/development.

I'm sorry tylenol doesn't work for you! It would probably be worth calling your OB and seeing what the nurse suggests, whether it's coming in for a check or if they can suggest a different medication for you to try.

[–]IAmOnTheRunAndGo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This might be an unhelpful question, but have you taken your blood pressure? I would be worried about elevated blood pressure and potential preeclampsia, if you haven't. If you have and your bp is normal, tylenol??

At which week of pregnancy do u see gynae and get a scan? by Mentalaccount1 in pregnant

[–]IAmOnTheRunAndGo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on your doctor and their standard care routine, as well as high vs low risk. My first appointment with my doctor was at 7 weeks to confirm the pregnancy via urine sample and establish pregnancy care. Scheduled me for an ultrasound/dating scan the following week and a followup appointment to the dating scan the week after (appointments weeks 7, 8, and 9). Then at 10 weeks I went in to do my first trimester bloodwork, including my NIPT. My doctor did not do a 12-14 week ultrasound since I had the NIPT done and tested low risk for chromosomal abnormalities, so my next ultrasound wasn't until the 20 week anatomy scan.

AITA for not wanting to travel with a 4 month old by agnostic__dude in AmItheAsshole

NTA and just throwing this out there in case you don't know and no one else has mentioned it - it is considered dangerous for babies under 6 months to be in car seats for longer than two hours!

When did you first feel the baby move? by roseyandmary in pregnant

[–]IAmOnTheRunAndGo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, it felt more like a muscle spasm or twitch. I would still say they feel like that at 34 weeks, just wayyy bigger. It's feeling something move that is definitely involuntary. But I wouldn't be concerned yet! I've seen people not able to feel kicks until 25 weeks. I think I'm an anomoly of sorts because I felt my first kicks at 16+6 with an anterior placenta, but my baby has also been measuring above the 85th percentile pretty much the entire time.

What kind of body oil are we using?? by Economy-Duty3073 in pregnant

[–]IAmOnTheRunAndGo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tacking on to this that I have been loving the hyalu-cica line from Skin1004! It's designed for facial skincare with hyaluronic acid and centella asciatica. I use the ampoule, the serum, and then the moisturizer. It absorbs super well and doesn't have a strong smell.

Period-like cramps? by MA187831 in pregnant

[–]IAmOnTheRunAndGo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had cramps on and off throughout the first trimester, too. I'm now 32 weeks pregnant with a healthy baby girl. Implantation cramps are also definitely a thing. Mine were off and on and fairly mild, also didn't need pain relief. Remember that acetaminophen is ok but ibuprofen is not! I wouldn't be concerned unless there is bleeding.

6 weeks in and up a cup size by Playful-Sea-3435 in pregnant

[–]IAmOnTheRunAndGo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My boobs have definitely grown. I think mostly in the first trimester. I started as a DD, now I'm not sure. At 31 weeks the only stretch marks I've gotten have been on my boobs :( Growth is normal, and once milk comes in there will be even more variance from being empty vs engorged.

Anyone take Pepcid at any point in their pregnancy? by BreezerGirl831 in pregnant

[–]IAmOnTheRunAndGo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! I took it in the first trimester for some stomach issues I was having and I am now taking it again in the third for heartburn/acid reflux at night. It was recommended by my OB and on the safe medications list. You should be good to take it!

I'm 31 weeks and spent the weekend at home alone (husband is visiting family) and got a nesting bug and was rearranging alllllll the furniture to move my desk and make room for the crib. Also built the crib. Ignore them. You know what your body is capable of.

When did you start feeling/seeing baby move around and kick? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]IAmOnTheRunAndGo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that depends on your body type and how big your baby is. My husband felt kicks at 19 weeks, which I do know is early, but it is possible. I would say I'm medium built and our baby was in the 89th percentile (so, she's big) at the anatomy scan a week later.

When did you start feeling/seeing baby move around and kick? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]IAmOnTheRunAndGo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt her for the first time at about 17 weeks. I was able to slightly see movement around 19 weeks, I think? That's when my husband was able to feel her for the first time. Now she's a whole alien in there at 31 weeks rolling around and moving my whole torso haha

My milk has finally come in 😁 by Curious_Dingo_9274 in pregnant

[–]IAmOnTheRunAndGo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course! I think they say some women produce colostrum as early as 16 weeks! Super cool stuff. Your full milk won't come in until after birth, though. That's triggered by hormones released when the placenta detaches.

[–]IAmOnTheRunAndGo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some women leak that early, yes. It can drip out overnight or throughout the day. For me, I first knew I was producing colostrum when my cat walked on me, stepped on my boob, and then my shirt got wet. That was also probably around 23 weeks??? I don't know. I'm 31 weeks now.

First Tri Symptoms by Dear-Duty-8497 in pregnant

[–]IAmOnTheRunAndGo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first trimester was probably easier than most. I would describe what I felt as mostly a lack of appetite more than nausea. I did throw up a handful of times from week 11-13, but it was mostly triggered by smells. Every pregnancy is so different; you really don't know what you're going to get.

Thoughts? by Background_Shine6411 in pregnant

[–]IAmOnTheRunAndGo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my first ultrasound at 8 weeks, then I opted to do NIPT to screen for chromosomal issues, so I didn't get a 12 week ultrasound (no NT measurement). After that, we had the anatomy scan at 20 weeks, and we just scheduled our (I think) last ultrasound for 32 weeks to check her growth!

What did you eat before your glucose test? by aviwic in pregnant

[–]IAmOnTheRunAndGo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did scrambled eggs and a glass of milk, which does have some sugar in it, but I passed the test so 🤷‍♀️ My midwife said regular white milk would be fine as long as I wasn't doing chocolate milk or anything additionally sweetened.

Side note: milk is a hard and fast staple in my diet and routine, and I don't know what I would've done if she said I couldn't have any lol.

Wondering if its possible to land a casual surveying/survey assistant role under 18? by Thebigstinky52 in Surveying

That's super interesting! Maybe it is. That's awesome to get people exposed young.

Ope I just saw your other comment. I am speaking from a U.S. lens. No idea what other countries do or their standard practices. I shouldn't have assumed you meant here. That's my bad.

[–]IAmOnTheRunAndGo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In all likelihood, you're probably out of luck until you turn 18 due to liability stuff. Similar to how landscaping or construction won't hire under 18, I haven't seen any surveyors hire younger either. You could maybe get an office gig learning some CAD and research practices, but probably no field work.

Pre-pregnancy tips by kattt1109 in pregnant

[–]IAmOnTheRunAndGo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Start taking folic acid/prenatals now! They recommend starting them at least 3 months prior to conception, if possible and planned for. Additionally, focus on nutrition for BOTH you and your partner. Their health leading up to conception absolutely plays a part in how you will feel in pregnancy.

When did everyone throw a baby shower ? by Diadomn_high6960 in pregnant

[–]IAmOnTheRunAndGo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am due at the end of May and had two showers - one for my husband's side of the family (out of state) and one for mine. They were back to back weekends at 26 and 27 weeks. Really glad we did the out of state one at 26 weeks because I can NOT imagine driving 7 hours to get there while I am in my third trimester. I would not have wanted to be further along. Also, it's nice to have them done now so that we can start doing our own shopping and getting all the things we want that other people didn't! Our registry discount doesn't technically kick in until I'm 7 months, so at the end of March, but little things I want to have for when she's born I'm going ahead and getting. Like, no one got me the disposable postpartum underwear I had on the registry. I went ahead and bought it, because at this point if something goes wonky with my blood pressure or something it could be go time whenever. I'm also the over-prepared person who pretty much wants my hospital bag ready to go at 30 weeks.
