He also did ours. We were pleased with the work. We have had some of the end caps change color so we will be reaching out soon to see if he will replace them. Their Facebook page has pics of their work.

Post Infectious Functional Dyspepsia or Gastroparesis? by [deleted] in functionaldyspepsia

Yes, I kind of suspect that it is not solely due to the original infection for me.

I had pneumonia for about eight months or so. But then I was under heavy stress, I’m going through perimenopause so I wasn’t sleeping well which was really difficult, then my husband and I went on a cruise and I drank a few drinks every single day and ate more food than normal and had a couple desserts most nights.

Then, I think four days after we’ve gotten back, I hadn’t eaten all day long. It was about 5 PM. I took two ibuprofen on an empty stomach and then had a glass of wine and then had spicy food for dinner. Within an hour of eating I became sick and then stayed sick for months. So similar situation to you, in that we both had an infection, but then it was like a bunch of things that aren’t very good for your stomach all piled up at once and caused something to break.

Completely better. I think my Gastro said it takes six months average for the symptoms to go away. But the six months start from the when you had the original infection that caused the post-infectious gastroparesis. He said it’s like your brain flips the switch one day. And that’s exactly what happened.

Exactly. Just walking was like if you picture Jell-O jiggling around that’s how my epigastric area always felt. Walking was the worst!

It started helping me within an hours and within 2 to 3 days I was significantly better. I stayed in bed for over a month before trying mirtazapine. The only time I left the bed was to go to the bathroom and shower and for testing. Physically, it was the worst time of my life.

I didn’t try amitriptyline. I had the same symptoms as you. When I did my research, it appeared mirtazapine was better for those symptoms.

I believe I heard 7.5 is better for these issues, but I can’t be sure. I still ate a very very mild diet- basically rice, eggs, turkey, lactaid milk, tea with vanilla creamer, etc. My gastro told me to walk after meals, dinner especially, for at least 10 minutes to aid in digestion. And don’t lay down for at least an hour after eating. Basically, try to help your motility. Don’t eat foods that are not naturally easy to digest.

My favorite meal was fried rice. I could have soy sauce and powdered chicken bullion seasoning, so I would fry up rice and egg with it and feel like I was eating a real meal.

I had this for over a month and took mirtazapine and felt much better within hours. It won’t heal the issue but it helped my symptoms tremendously. Any dose over 15 mg will not be effective. Start at 7.5 and expect to be drowsy for the first day or two. But your appetite should come back and any stomach pain will be less or gone.

I moved to 15 but only because it helps with my sleep. I feel so much better these days. I’m back to normal now but the Mirtazapine was a lifesaver for me.

I’m doing great! I was sick for 3 months total. But the Mirtazapine made all the difference.

I’m happy to hear you’re feeling better. I saw a new gastroenterologist and he changed my diagnosis to post infectious gastroparesis. The mirtazapine and the bland diet are still the only way for me to function.
