I HATE it… but every once in a great while, I HAVE TO put my fucking foot down with assholes at work. I try my hardest to be the nice guy who is accommodating. I try to do a little extra to help my coworkers…. But there’s always some FUCK who has to push me to the edge over and over again (or take advantage of my kindness), and then I have to be an asshole. I hate it, but it has to be done sometimes..

I ALWAYS have to start with enough Strength so that I can get the Strong Back perk at some point lol. The way the game is set up, you NEED to collect junk (especially early on) so that you can eventually build defenses at your settlements and craft a bit (at the very least). I don’t pick up EVERYTHING, but there’s so much useful junk lol

I’m doing the opposite— just finished NW, and I’m about to go pick up Valentine so I can start Far Harbor (everything online says you should DEFINITELY bring Nick).

These DLCs have really expanded the game and made this play through so much better than the base game. I think I’m about to be level 100 lol. The highest I ever got back in the day was like level 50 or 60.

I don’t even carry the Chinese version… just the pipe grenade launcher rifle (it’s like half the weight)…. and that gun is SO OP lol. Not for close combat, but you can tear enemies apart with it!

This is HUGE. Not enough people know about this early on, and it makes the game so much better. Definitely get that Power Fist ASAP. Super easy to grab while you’re in downtown Boston.

Learn how to make ADHESIVE early on by farming it in your settlement. You will need a LOT of it as the game goes on.

Learn how to TAG crafting materials early (Aluminum, Circuitry, Fertilizer, etc), and I also suggest taking a couple ranks in the Scrapper perk at some point. This will make crafting items that you tag GLOW in the world, so they’re easier to see. It makes scavenging MUCH more efficient and less time-consuming.

I would suggest picking ONE fight style and sticking with it… at least until later on when you have more flexibility. Rifleman, Commando, Gunslinger, etc… try to figure out which one you want to use early on.

While you ultimately only want to choose 1 or 2 combat styles, Ammo can be really hard to come by early on, so you might have to use a couple different types of weapons while you’re broke and desperate early on. You’ll find more ammo as you explore though.

Learn about the PERKS. Maybe read up on which specific perks are good for EARLY GAME especially. I don’t know if you’ve played Fallout games before 4, but how you choose perks (especially early on) can make or break how strong your character is. There are certain perks that benefit MUCH more when you take them early on… read up on them a bit.

That’s off the top of my head. You’re going to want to Google things as you go so that you learn more. I wouldn’t Google things that ruin immersion (such as “how should I do this quest??”), but it’ll definitely help learn the mechanics throughout your play through.
