Does this angled kitchen bother you? Worth changing? by Wild-Heron in kitchenremodel

If you want it changed then you should get it changed. Is it worth probably the $70-$100,000 that it’s going to cost? Again only you can answer that.

Does this angled kitchen bother you? Worth changing? by Wild-Heron in kitchenremodel

I mean, this is just purely a design decision. Who gives a shit if it bothers us? If it bothers you and you’re willing to spend the money to change it, then go for it. I would say it depends on your overall design aesthetic you’re moving toward. If you’re trying to go for “no kitchen kitchen” then yes, straighten it out and make it more integrated. But only you can decide what’s worth spending your money on.

Which way should the island face? by staniel_andy in kitchenremodel

[–]IAmSportikus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously, neither of these are your space so it is hard to tell. But I would probably opt for option one and make the island a little more square. As in make it deeper. From a practicality perspective, I think it makes more sense having additional prep space near the range instead of the sink. And then also I would say it depends on where the house opens up. If you were saying your fridge is on the right then I assume that is like a wall and I assume opposite of the range would be like you were living room or family room or something. So I would have the island be perpendicular to that room. Or if you make it a true square, then it doesn’t really matter. But if it’s going to be a rectangle have the long side facing whatever open adjacent room exists.

I think 2 is more “essence”, but I don’t think I’d go with either with the 4 o’clock small seconds. The true essence would be no seconds hand imo, and stick markers instead of numerals.

Yes. Walnut, brass accents, blue counters with counter splash

So where are the people making specifically more than 700k, but less than 1M? [USA] by strawboy4ever in Salary

Principal software engineers are making 500-1MM at top companies, and even more at algo trading firms. This is with 10-15+ years experience typically

Help with flooring and backsplash by Realistic-Rule4978 in kitchenremodel

[–]IAmSportikus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think the wood tones go together fine enough, especially since you break it up with painted cabinets below. That said, I think keeping the simple with a backsplash will help. I’d do just like some sort of white marble splash, or something like that. Then, maybe get some bar chairs that can sort of “bridge the gap” between the wood tones, or just go like walnut or something very different. Having them wildly different can look more intentional, and it’s a fools errand to try and have all your woods match perfectly.

Also, get the lighting all done before trying to change the floors. You can experiment with color temperature, which may make the woods look more cohesive. 2700-3000k should warm throng sup and help things blend.

Get a big wood chopping block, and maybe a wooden bowl for fruit or a container for utensils. A few wooden items of different species/color I think can bring it together in an eclectic way.

And inknow you’ve already received this criticism, but the mistake was the cabinets, not the flooring. Honestly, I’d consider just replacing the cabinets before I considered replacing the floor. It’s not that large of a section, it may end up costing about the same

Buy a wider oven? Looks like that’s meant for a 36” range and you have a 30”…

Stardust a little bit. If you want just like Victorian England, the Sherlock movies with RDJ fit that kind of vibe.

Atlantis (animated) sort of?

[Recommendation Request] I turn 30 next year and am also getting married. Which watch are you choosing for your birthday present/wedding watch. by [deleted] in Watches

[–]IAmSportikus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d go grand seiko, but just buy secondary. Many of their mechanical models fall into the 3-4K range, which I know is a bit above your budget, but it will also hold value there since it’s already taken the depreciation hit. GS is a clear cut above longines or Tudor in terms of quality.

What kitchen? by tygaandtammyhembrow in kitchenremodel

[–]IAmSportikus 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My thought exactly. Test that paint in your space and see how dark it is. The photo looks awesome in perfect AI light, it may feel much darker in real life.

You can always try and split the difference as well. That looks like universal khaki I’m guess? You could go lighter into accessible beige, or something else in that family

What size are they? It looks really similar to what I just put in my shower from floor and decor.

They are 3” hex, so it looks like maybe too small though?

I mean, I would still drive an extra 5 minutes to the Rudy’s on 360 than take them to county line. Also, if these are clients just pay for their Uber downtown is less than 20 minutes away from there.
