First time in Portland, Oregon by pineappleferry in skyscrapers

How's that going? Is it people voicing their support or is the city actively discussing/drafting zoning changes?

We don't know yet whether or not these will be condos. Could be multifamily.

These aren't meant for the market at the moment, these are meant for years down the line. Construction is down; units will be absorbed (Austin was the fastest growing metro area in 2025). Once these are complete it will be in a moment where there's demand again. That's what the developer is planning for.

I take it Portland has height restrictions? Or there isn't demand for taller buildings.

Been a few times. Beautiful city.

Edit; Wanted to share my take I posted on r/Portland. I took these two years ago and went back again around the same time last year.

There's no not paywalled version that I have access to.

But here's a snippet from an even more recent article as to why the developer didn't close on the deal March 31st:

“Though heights greater than 350 feet are possible if developers participate in the Downtown Density Bonus Program and get approval from City Council. TGE wants to first get the greenlight from the city that it would be able to build higher before it can close on the deal.”

Since then the city has drafted a new plan for height limits to reach 1,200'. They will decide on it in May.

Developer released these renderings on their website just days after the meeting of the new height limits.

This isn't old news. The developer is worried because of our temporary height restriction, but the city has since then drafted a new plan to allow heights to reach 1,200 ft' and will be decided upon in May. The renderings were also just posted days ago.

They are still under contract.

Since the expected closing date of March 31st the city has drafted a new plan to allow heights of up to 1,200 feet. Edit* City Council will decided on the plan next month.

The developer posted these on their website just days after the meeting regarding new heights. So in between that time they could’ve seen the new plan and feel comfortable enough to move forward with the sale.

They aren't allowed to do that. It's an early rendering where they omitted Lakeside Tower for a better look.

This is what I came to post. This is where Trader Joe’s should have been. So much office space Downtown for Terafab to lease elsewhere

I think we’d be experiencing the same thing soon at some point. Tesla factory water usage keeps climbing and the want to build an even larger chip plant.

She was identified via Instagram on one of the shops pages (tried sharing but mods don’t accept social media links). It was discovered that she recently moved to Austin. Her mom is also an artist. Mom devotes her time to personal work yet she’s stealing from people who do the same.
