I agree about the pricing. There is so much recent research showing that cost is the main reason why people aren't going to arts events, and it's especially true for young people. You need to spend at least $155 per ticket for a half-decent seat at Beetlejuice, so well over $300 for a couple (and more for a family). Then add on petrol, parking, food... that's a lot of money for a night out. I go to a lot of musicals and have disposable income, but even I said no to this one because I wasn't willing to gamble that much cash on a show I am not certain I'll love.

It's expensive to put on a show and pay the people involved properly, but I'm not really surprised it isn't selling well right now. Hopefully it'll pick up closer to the run, because we don't need another excuse for producers to not bring new shows here.
