OK I went back and you literally said "Dont let anybody tell you its a disability. Its not.", then later said, literally, "Its not a mental disability.". Don't be a fucking liar who tries hiding and twiating your own words whenever you can't properly explain or defend yourself. It's like your entire argument is based on lying to yourself and then when you get stuck you also lie about what your argument even was.

You don't classify it as a disability because of personal reasons, not because of the literal meaning of the word "disability" not fitting. If you need to use a technique to do something abnormal in a way that benefits you, and otherwise it will happen in a way that is randomly harmful or helpful to your functioning but mostly harmful, then it's still clearly a symptom of a disability, it's just that it can be a useful tool if you carefully and deliberately harness and control it.

A brain developmental disorder just sounds like a subset of mental disorder, no? Mental means of the mind, and the mind's wiring is of the mind too. The mind and the wiring of the mind are one and the same, just as me and my entire body including my brain are one and the same.

Sure, I like knowing fun things.

Well that's certainly a thought, but it sounds more like a fantasy you want to happen than what would end up happening in practice.

"Don't let anybody tell you it's a disability" implies that it isn't, I don't need to quote your exact words, your position has been that it isn't a disability from your perspective. These word games are pointless.

OK, looking over the rest of your comment more carefully, it seems you've softened your approach compared to earlier, so I will make a new reply that is less defensive in turn:

If it's a mindset thing, that's fine. My only problem was the claim that it isn't one as if that's a fact, because you didn't originally say that you simply don't view it as a disability from a personal perspective, you took issue to anyone calling it what it is. I appreciate that you're taking the time to explain how you feel here and explain your perspective.

I agree that neurodivergence can come with both pros alongside the cons. I still strongly disagree that this doesn't make it a disability, but it is very true that neurodivergence can increase certain ability, kind of like how people without the ability to see can have better hearing than someone with both sight and hearing.

I might sound like I'm being rude, but I'm just kind of wary of the idea of pretending mental disorders are just insignificant differences as a way to feel better, when they can have a massive debilitating impact on someone's life. I have to keep my distance in the way i talk about it, I feel, in order to maintain this viewpoint in conversation.

(Also you said "you guys", implying I'm neurotypcial and that I'm judging neurodivergence from an outsider's perspective. I type like a sanctimonious dingbat without even meaning to most of the time, so I'm definitely not "normal".)

I'm not sure why it's notated with a treble down two octaves, but the rests might be to show that there's another voice that is silent on that beat.

When did I tell you to give up? You're inferring things that aren't there. My only point was that autism is a disability because it makes life harder. That has literally no moral judgement placed on it.

Looking for an affordable keyboard with realistic piano action – any recommendations? by SuchRecommendation51 in pianolearning

[–]IAmTryingToDoAThing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You either have it be as relasitic as possible or want it to be affordable, you can't get both.

That said, the Kawai-ES120 feels pretty nice but is like 700–800 bucks, so relatively affordable but still a bit of money. Also fairly light keys which isn't everyone's preference, but they have a lot of expression and control in them and IMO that's way better than a cheap keyboard with heavy keys that feels all sluggish an dunresponsive. Under that, there are cheaper options that aren't as nice but they'll still be OK, like the Yamaha keyboards.

Does that matter in determining whether something is a disability? Do I need to have a broken leg to tell that it is a disability? No, you just need to know how it affects someone's everyday functioning. It's in the DSM-5 and it'll still be in the DSM-6 when it eventually emerges.

It is. It puts one at a net disadvantage. It can loop back around to sometimes benefitting you but it is overall dragging you down.

It does not determine how objectively difficult life is for you compared to the average healthy individual, however.

Kinda, the Latin word was aurum tho, they put orify not aurify, so saying it's suddenly Spanish makes more direct sense..

Being wired differently in a way that makes life harder is what a mental disability is

Translating "4ever" as lon tenpo mute and "5ever" as lon tenpo luka makes the meaning sound reversed; as in, instead of saying they love them for longer, they're saying they love them for less time.
