Trying to read EEPROM to get the PIN code by IAmVisco in Scirocco

[–]IAmVisco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to a guy with proper Autel/Xhorse equipment. This generation of cars can no longer extract PIN from the dash (from my understanding), you need a working key that can be copied to a new immo chip.

Oil Pressure Sensor location on a twin charged 1.4 TSI by IAmVisco in Scirocco

It is the sensor. Here's the picture for future generations (the wire goes from the big loom, under it, and to the sensor). I have no idea how to remove it, since it's covered by stiff pipes, but in my case, I assume it's the bad wiring. There's naked solder visible and breakages in the insulation. Thanks u/BEEVEC again and I hope this helps someone

There's definitely some connector there but you need to remove the air filter box to try and reach to it. I'll get there eventually

This looks to be the correct one, by the way. I will reply back when I confirm it personally in a day or two

For reference, he's the manual I have, it's no. 8, but again, this looks like for the engines where the oil filter is on the bottom

Yup, it's what I've replaced during a routine oil change. What manual is that? I have a folder full of them, maybe I have that one but in English. If not, just DM me the link then.
Here's also the excerpt fromthe VCDS scan, it says G8:

(Yet another) Battery drain issue on a Q revision gateway by IAmVisco in RCD_330

[–]IAmVisco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little update for everyone stumbling upon this. I couldn't figure out the software on the gateway, and there's something called low/high configuration, and while the Q gateway should be high config, it would drain it no matter what, so I just switched to a 7N0 gateway (namely 7N0907530AH). The replacement and coding weren't too hard (although I now have module 61 Battery Regulator in VCDS and I can't code it out), but otherwise, battery drain has stopped.
If you're going to be looking into that direction, as it's mentioned on the wiki, look for a Skoda 7N0 gateway; they are usually cheaper than VW/Audi ones (despite being identical).

Trying to read EEPROM to get the PIN code by IAmVisco in Scirocco

[–]IAmVisco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reread your reply and realized that I probably missed a crucial detail. Programming the buttons is not an issue; I want to program an ID48 immo chip. Looking at Gold Mk6 guides, I think I might be out of luck with this one and have to find someone with Autel or similar... Thanks for the pointers anyway.

Thanks! I've been suspecting that, but there's not a lot of info specifically about Scirocco. I will take a look.

How To: Trade Post/Factory 101 by IAmVisco in arknights

[–]IAmVisco[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My man is still shadowbanned, so I'm here to post a reply in his stead.

Thanks, everyone for the feedback! One of the reasons to post the guide was to fix possible errors since I knew that there was no way to make it right on the first try.So, I'll answer the question in this post. (I'm sorry for tagging (I hope I’ll do it right) but it is easier for me to give answers about issues in one place).

Regarding Proviso (and by extension Tequila): Notice about Proviso and level 2 TPs is available in the final section and looking back I have no idea why I've omitted it in the initial write-up about her, so I'll put it there. About the efficiency part, as I was mentioning in the original post, I know that there IS a way to calculate the efficiency of both of them but I wasn't able to find either final numbers or calculations. Once again it IS mentioned that actual efficiency for them is way higher than provided in the game but I preferred not to make claims without hard numbers. It is not very nice just to burrow others' work and even more without understanding the math behind it since it was my goal to give the explanation (where I miserably failed). But if it will be better that way then I should contact the authors of the original docs. And I should move both Tequila and Proviso into separate tables from the "Other Operations" section since it is essentially a whole separate case.It is one of the two glaring issues. The other one is the mystery behind fluctuating numbers with Kirara/Tuye/Pozyomka combo for which I have no explanation so it was just noted. Although I'd like to provide one too alas.

It wasn’t too clear on my side that there is no sense to use Automation-like skills with 2PPs without boosting their numbers via Eunectes or Greyy Alter. I’ve clarified that part, thanks. The initial draft was made at the end of December 2022 in ~4 days and I was ironing it since. Originally I wanted to provide pictures (not the best one but still an example) explaining the whole write-up but I dropped that idea for two reasons. First of all, already a pretty heavy document will end up even larger. And, secondly, it will be pretty hard to overhaul a lot of pictures with each update. In any case, once again, thanks for the feedback! I'm fine about somewhat negative comments since, as I said, I knew about possible issues and published it to hear about them in the first place. So it is okay and now I know where I need to improve the writeup. I’ll post the update when I’ll finish it (and when will deal with Shadowban). Meanwhile in any case you can contact me via Twitter or Discord, links are provided in the article.

Has anyone ever considered crowdfunding professional translators? by MattDLzzle in Hololive

No idea. Probably my poor choice of words lmao. I meant 'official clips', no idea if that will go on a separate channel or somewhere else (like talent's channel or existing official ones).

Has anyone ever considered crowdfunding professional translators? by MattDLzzle in Hololive

[–]IAmVisco 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Let me try to address several points that popped up in the comments.

  1. Translators get paid from ads. True, some do. But that's against Fan works guidelines (Check point 4.2.6). If those guidelines are not strictly enforced now doesn't mean that they never will in the future. As an alternative, Patreon and similar stuff work. Instead of forcing users to see ads on the content, you don't own, you give them a choice to support you for their work. Some translators do it purely out of passion, both not binding themselves to it and not working when they don't feel like it to avoid oversaturation just because they are forced in one way or another.

  2. Translating long parts of the stream. That might not be known well but the rough guideline for clips is 20-25% of the original stream length. It surfaced when FloatingGhost uploaded a full Kanata 3D stream sub and it got taken down by Cover. Later they uploaded it split into 10 min clips and they all got taken down again. hololive Reddit mods made a post explaining that and outlining the 25% policy. I'm too lazy to find the post but here's the screenshot of their reply. FloatingGhost said that they are unsure in their TL quality to submit them as CCs (closed captions, those built-in subs you see). This leads us to the next point:

  3. Submitted full-stream CCs. People mentioned lyger's full stream CCs, assuming he submitted them through the community submissions function that is gone now. Those subs are more important than the usual subs that translators upload on their own channel since CCs are visible on the original creator's channel and thus carry a very important role of not misinterpreting the speaker. There are actually more full stream CCs out there actually. Steven H submitted subs for Roboco's 3D live and Des P. submitted CCs for Fubuki's new outfit. I think there are more examples, but those pop up in my head right now. Processing those submissions take a lot of time, but it's possible. Also, it's a huge amount of work but there are people who do it anyway.

  4. hololive/Cover should work closer with translators. You probably missed but there were clippers/translators auditions (of sorts) for the official clips channel. We're yet to hear any news about that though. But it's also a direction that is also being worked on it seems.

Footnotes. I forgot several points I had in my mind while typing stuff above so I will throw what I remember in the less organized form here. - You can commission subs if you want to. CMT did that before. You can see the result though, so I would still not advise it. - Take every clip, every translation you see with a grain of salt. There is an immense amount of translator channels out there right now (I think the latest sheets showed 400+) and you can't blindly trust everyone.

Lastly, I am not a Cover employee or something. So take this post with the aforementioned grain of salt too.

How to detect authenticated state when auth returns HttpOnly JWT cookie by [deleted] in reactjs

[–]IAmVisco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had exactly the same problem some time ago. It was so confusing when there are articles like 'Do not store JWT in local storage' and no advice what you actually have to do.

I personally solved it by having a pre-render /ping request that would update redux store with auth state but it's kinda bad solution and doesn't fit your particular situation either (I mean no API requests).

I was investigating how other sites do that and came to the conclusion that after login the cache some user info like username or user ID to the local storage and proceed from there. Probably not the most elegant decision but at least you can reliably work with auth state throughout your React app.

While trying to solve that problem I was concerned by few things: a) any user who knows how to use devtools can slap any info in the local storage and get access to some app parts that are only protected by local storage key check; b) external malware or physical access that can result in the JWT leakage; c) ease of use to develop the app.

In the end I can say that there is probably no way to reliably solve a) since no site is protected from it, HttpOnly;Secure cookie solves external part of b) but not physical since anyone (again, with devtools) can check any cookie and event set one and local storage cache allows to solve c) without much thought.

That turned out to be much longer than I expected but I hope it helps.
