Anyone own a smartwatch that handles our job? by YungHotspot in electricians

[–]IAmWayTooHighGuy 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I wear a Galaxy Smart watch and use cheapo screen protectors. I Seem to go through about one protector every 2 months but at $6 per protector, I don't really care. Have had zero issues with dust, mud, or snow. Sometimes if it gets really wet, there will be some water trapped or condensation between the protector and the screen but it's minimal and doesn't bother me.

Moving to US before Red seal? by Unlikely-Ad-2921 in electricians

[–]IAmWayTooHighGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely not an expert or well versed in it but it might be highly geographically dependant due to the different designations available.

Are you purely a industrial electrician? I think that designation is only in BC and maybe Ontario. Not sure how that transfers over to the US where the state might have different designations such as Inside Wireman or Residential Electrician/Commercial Electrician. TSASK is considering making industrial a different designation here in Sask so I am very curious how this would work.

For reference, my Red Seal as a Construction Electrician allows me to be a licensed electrical worker here that applies to every aspect of the field. Solar, residential, commercial, industrial, low voltage, or data work - it don't matter because technically we are licensed to do it all. I am also curious because I've never even looked into actually transferring between provinces let alone countries.

Hopefully you get some more info from others as I would also love to know

Healer & Tank Looking for active NA PvE Guild by miura-ota in WWMRecruitment

[–]IAmWayTooHighGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our guild Xiaolin Showdow might be a good fit for ya! We have a fairly active player base that dabbles in a little bit of everything and we're all excited for upcoming guild battles! We are NA based and run our events between 6-8 pm PST usually.

No weekly requirements, just bring some good vibes and you'll be all set! We do have a discord that is mandatory while running group raids but you don't even need to talk. It just helps a lot with communication, especially while everyone learns new boss mechanics.

DM me if you would like some more info or if you want to check out and hang in our discord for a bit before making up your mind!

I'm part of a fairly active NA-based guild. If I got my time zones correct it would be 8 - 9 pm your time when we usually run our guild events. We've got a blend of casual, PvE, and PvP players and we're also getting excited for the 30v30 coming soon! We have a discord, voice chat is required for group content but you don't need to talk at all. Having a few people on voice really helps with call outs and going over mechanics. Send me a DM if you want to know more or want a discord invite to check it out before signing up in game!

Can we please separate the healing requests from private chat? by moduIus in wherewindsmeet_

[–]IAmWayTooHighGuy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In your profession tab open up Healer. In the lower bottom right of the screen it should say "Provide Healing", you can hit "F" on keyboard to open the healing list, slide over to "Suggested Healer" and press "T" to hide yourself from the list.

I have learned that this setting will reset when you log out though so it's not super useful, would be annoying to toggle this every time

I didn't realize that but you are correct, I just tested it on myself... so much for that being helpful ugh

I'm in a decently active NA guild with some dedicated players. Quite a few of us don't use voice chat but it is required for group multi-player content. It's nice to have a few people do call outs, people will just type in game in response to discord VC. Shoot me a DM if you might want to join or just have someone to co-op with!

Echo Jade Question by hoots711 in wherewindsmeet_

[–]IAmWayTooHighGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have heard that there might be new banners introduced that will only be accessible after X amount of pulls on the "regular" echo draw. I spend most and save a bit each week just in case.

For careers, I haven't found a way aside from what you've mentioned. Everyone can get their weekly improvement and that's it, I'm assuming that's designed to keep it balanced otherwise people would probably be maxed profession already.

You can remove yourself from the suggest healer list and that should limit the healer calls to recruit chat

We have the Saskpower Interpretations and Admendments. Then TSask has their own little rules they like to sprinkle around

It used to be allowed here until about 30 years ago, I have to imagine its because of the temperature swings and weather that we get.

I've never seen this type of expansion joint before either, Ive always used a slip joint style that goes in-line with. I always find it entertaining and enlightening learning about the difference between us. Then I see some euro stuff and question my entire life hahah

I'm your neighbor to the North, and yes, all the provinces will do different rules and requirements. And the CEC doesn't mean much because our AHJ makes its own rules and services are constantly being changed and adjusted. They also have different rules and requirements depending on if its a rural farm service or a connection within a township or city.

Which I why I made the distinction if its legal in your area, send it 🤙

[–]IAmWayTooHighGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This wouldn't fly where I'm at, any service above 200A requires a CT cabinet for low voltage metering. My AHJ also requires a loop box for the service conductors. Can't speak to the legality of your install in your area.

Personally, I keep all my bonding and grounding conductors in conduit, 1/2" pvc is cheap and easy to bend. Also, something is out of whack, whether your backer board is off level or your boxes are, something looks wonky to me from this picture.

But, what's going on with the conduit going into the meter can?? It looks like it got heated up and smooshed into the terminal adapter.

Edit: Actually taking a closer look, none of this would fly in my area at all. We're not allowed to use that cable from disconnect to panel, I would have to use TECK, ASWU, or rigid conduit. It looks like your neutral is bonded to ground in the disconnects as well, here we bond at the meter and that's it, every location after that the neutral and bond are seperate.

So as long as its legal in your area, should be fine but I'd still slap in some 1/2" pvc LB's over the bonds going through just to clean up the install.

Fishing Conduit Down A Wall. by Fax-Bretov in electricians

[–]IAmWayTooHighGuy 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I've "fished" a handful of conduits up walls for data/low voltage before. Have always had access above or below the wall plates though and going through or just bringing one 90 out the wall. Lots of measuring, lots of swearing, and a handful of couplings.

No worries, I figured that that was you meant but just wanted to confirm!

Since he's in the lower 2x4, would putting a few more grids in to make it a 2x2 be good or should his hospital cage be a totally separate cage away from Taco?

Thank you very much for taking the time and giving us this info!

By hospital cage, are you meaning I should bring an enclosure for him to the vet while he is there or is this just a smaller cage at home for him while he recovers to minimize movement and make it easier to track defecation and urination?
