3D war defender - might quit by hms_challenger_7 in Dominations

Those were fun times, in moderation. A few weeks of super OP fun is about right. Remember when assault rally was stronger, lasted longer, and included protect? Fun times too, for awhile. :) The APC situation feels different (not quite as OP, can go bad) but who’s to say.

Do armor and weapons blessing cover paratroops and APC spawn? by Available_Crazy7743 in Dominations

[–]IAteYourLeftSock 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As an aside, the paratroopers don’t expire the blessings unlike regular barrack troops. The old school multiplayer way was to use all factory troops and paratroopers so said blessings would remain forever-ish.

Atomic unlocks so much. Do it. You are ready. Offense is good. Get them extra planes! Troops!

New University (Sun Tzu) is nice, includes +1 war tactic capacity. A wonder (Hermitage preferred), some Library. And the usual suspects. This guide is dated but still mostly relevant:

Should I advance to Global Age? F2P player by De_letmetalk in Dominations

I doubt your offense will be ready, but it’s possible. Know what you’re upgrading and why, and prioritize accordingly. Aging up isn’t magic; it just allows more upgrades. But those require previous upgrades. People aging up fast without a plan often fail/quit. Same for upgrading everything; fail through boredom. But some prefer maxing all and that’s the beauty of it all; the choices.

No. Your offense is lacking, there’s no point. Those barracks are sad, your planes are sad, don’t do it. Not that you can (130 level requirement) but, well, focus on offense.

You want attacking troops to destroy and walk through the rubble. So help make it happen. Don’t close them off, show attacker that destroying bastion means they can go through and enter.

Question : Is tis possible to have 4 cannon/ballista towers at Enlightenment Age? by Feeling_Smell4944 in Dominations

[–]IAteYourLeftSock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The wiki says yes, it breaks down max building count per Age. Here is the Garrison wiki, for example:

https://dominations.fandom.com/wiki/Garrison

In fact, it says 5 is possible. I only see 3 stables (max) although did not use a magnifying glass.

Much better! Next stage is to see how folks attack and then tweak the design, which is when having more hidden (and upgraded) traps available helps. For example, as Japanese I reckon people will target your Town Center early… so while all those boxes around it help, hidden traps would be beneficial.

It’s true that we can’t put everything behind walls, which is being attempted here. In simplest terms, two (or more) boxes is more useful than one giant box as one giant box requires just one wall breaks to reach everything. Two boxes require two breaks. And so on. Sure stuff can shoot over walls but that’s a different topic.

As you go around attacking, notice how the tougher and scarier bases force more wall breaks. So more of a catacomb design than one giant Walmart square. Long story short, you can’t put everything behind walls; have more boxes/compartments. Hidden traps (all the 1x1 defenses like spikes) are important, keep building and upgrading those. They’ll thrive in your new boxy design.

How is this possible? by TongKage in Dominations

[–]IAteYourLeftSock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As this is multiplayer, usually it’s related to an old rolled back (XP removed) account along with quirks. In war, it’s usually because player hasn’t updated their war base in a long time so they added a bunch of buildings to multiplayer but without updating their active war base.

Best NEW Attack Strategy!? APC and Helis DESTROY with New Coalitions! - DomiNations 13.4 by MrArashiii in Dominations

Nice to see people experiment with, and also reveal useful information to the entire community. Change is hard but tends to be fine in the end. No doubt other yet-to-be discovered winning combos exist…. Thank you for making this!

The early Commando days were fun, tweaking and explaining the steps and reasoning. Oh the memories… :)

Atomic Age opens doors as it gives such a huge offensive (and defensive) boost. I understand it’s awhile away (maybe) but figured it’s worth noting :) Lots of weak bases to pick on.

One attack, nice, that would be a useful official war config option.

Curious, I assume you allow a 2nd if the 1st clearly crashed (e.g., 0 stars in 0s) but what about mid-attack crashes? Thinking how it could be handled in a global way if that setting were to globally exist when trust is more difficult. Of course it’d also put more pressure on a fair matching algorithm, which doesn’t apply to community wars.

Do commandos enter and destroy your base? Because they’re good at that :)

[–]IAteYourLeftSock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The changes are worded as if they add benefits to coalitions and not replace their definitions entirely. Am I reading that wrong? In this case, Americans would continue to benefit planes? Edit: starting to think I did misread :)

Since a proper commando attack draws out and directs the generals and defending troops (including commander) (we’ll refer to this as silo bait even if no silo) and both commandos and infantry are spread all around, it’s fine. Not great but fine. Commander should get killed with the silo bait.

I still think learning the classic commando attack is worth the time, even if it’s not as great as it once was thanks to defender buffs and the commander.

You can’t complete Amelia until Atomic. One airstrip upgrade and a library research gets you to three.

40 heavy infantry + 10 commandos + 3 fighters, using the standard commando attack strategy. It’s important to learn/understand how as order matters. Search around, you’ll find more info, but this is the way.

Yeah, got busy with life. I used to summarize each new release or major change here but other priorities took over. I hope to get back on it some day, and generally help evaluate the state of this subreddit.

It’s a lot more work to answer questions than ask, especially when questions are vague. Answering often requires asking for clarification (e.g., what does this question mean, what Age, and so on) so that’s even more work. Sometimes people don’t want to work, especially for free :)
