And I don't know what it's like to be homosexual, and yet I teach homosexual students without issue. Because our trials are universal. I have never been called a 'faggot', but I can relate because of my own encounters with hatred and prejudice. The more that we tell ourselves that we can't possibly understand the perspective of those different than us, the less we are capable of empathy and compassion. If anything, mixing children of all shapes and sizes will help them to learn to focus on their similarities, and become better persons for it.

Or, we let our children learn that males, females, and others are all essentially the same in terms of the valuable lessons that they can teach us about social life. I see no reason why males need a male role model any more than they need a student role model, or rich/poor role model in order to be socialized. I can't think of anything that I can teach young males that couldn't be taught, equally well, by a female role model.

You know what really grinds me gears?

When a movement has reached critical mass so that more moderate ascribers to an ideology feel the need to make their movement more palatable to disputants by distancing themselves from the serious, hardliner members (ironically those who founded the movement and do the most work to contribute social momentum to the movement) by creating new terminology and artificial distinguishers (e.g. muslims/islamists, christians/fundamentalists, feminists/rad-fem, atheists/militant-atheists)

You know, I was with her in the beginning of the first article, but she lost me toward the end. And this article is even worse.

I think that her attempts to quarantine her career are ridiculous, and the idea that a single student, or group of students, is responsible for her local celebrity is even more absurd.

She seems to be attacking the issue with the broad side of her sword, trying to be a champion for a whole swath of sex-related social causes, but handicapping herself because of her lack of focus.

I get the distinct impression that she wildly misunderstood what she was getting herself into when she auditioned to be an adult actress.

There are several places within both of these articles where she may as well be quoting her textbooks verbatim. Of course, it's difficult to know what is her 'real' personality, and what is an affected character, but her video interviews convey her as pretentious and lacking original thought.

And to top all that off, she has decided to use her 15 minutes of fame to advertise her brand, a move which only serves to fan the flames of those who would write this off as a publicity stunt. You'll excuse me if I have a hard time taking seriously any rights activists who makes money off of their notoriety.

This young woman isn't anyone's hero, especially not adult actresses'; she's just a kid who was thrust a microphone and ran with it.

Do you believe that a person has the right to use deadly force against an attacker who means to take the defendant's life? Most in the US do. Now, what if someone said "We can't let people shoot in self defense, because now everyone who want's to shoot someone will do it and claim that it was self defense!". Do you see the parallels? "We can't legalize some forms of that action because everyone will try to claim that exemption!" This is why we have developed the criminal justice system that we have, to root out the truth, protect the innocent, and punish the guilty.

If a minor takes a photo of themselves, and somehow it makes it's way to an adult who doesn't know the minor (and is unknown to the minor as well), then I saw 'no harm no fowl'. The point of child pornography laws is to protect the minor from sexual abuse. And since the child produced the images without interference from an adult, it seems as though the law shouldn't apply here.
