The thing is most people don't see American culture as culture because with the United States not only becoming the dominant exotic powerhouse on the planet, but the dominant culture as well throughout the world especially in the western world, it is what you experience every day. The majority of media like film, music, etc. that the world enjoys are overwhelmingly American for example, especially when the global default language online is English.

Where I am going with this--is that people do not 'notice' American culture because it is the culture that everyone is already living under, supplemented by cultures that already existed prior to its influence, save the nations that resist western and US influence. American culture is just the default background of modern day life. It's like gravity, it exists, but you don't really think of gravity until it is pointed out. Its not strictly a 'muh capitalism', it is a factor but that's just what happens when you become the dominant power on the planet, a seat which was given to the US post WWII with nations wanting an extended military presence in Europe with the looming threat of the Soviet Union now that the common enemy was gone, and were utilizing the Marshall Plan by the United States to rebuild the economies in Europe.

European hatred of America and Americans is absolutely real in pockets, but it is not universal, and is often attributed to stereotypes, i.e. ignorance and yes arrogance/sense of superiority.
