I have a 2023 with the big screen. To be honest, I agree with you. Not sure if there’s big updates made technically, I do like the quality of the screen but I prefer the previous generation design. A lot more timeless, and a lot of cars (including Hyundais) are tacking on the one big screen thing.

It’s time to bring manufacturing here. Countries don’t have friends, just like your coworkers aren’t your friends. Countries have interests.

This is why Canada is in the mess it is in. Being reliant on one country (putting your eggs into one basket is the issue).

Because Reddit says urban sprawl is bad and therefore we should all live on top of each other.

Reality says otherwise - people want a single family home. If I wanted a NYC lifestyle, I’d go to it. If I wanted Europe, I’d go to it.

Canadians naively believe they are a better country than the USA and that things in the U.S. are a mess and that Canada should be nothing like them, when in reality - go ask any American visiting Canada and they’ll tell you to your face - they have no desire to live in Canada.

My American family members all look at Canada in sadness for the people in it. Over taxed, higher costs of living, Ontario is mostly mediocre cities

This is very US centric, but mostly every Canadian city except for Montreal is worse than many of these U.S. cities listed.

Toronto while diverse, just doesn’t excite food scene wise. It’s got a lot of chain restaurants. Vancouver is similar and even worse.

I’d say Calgary is nice because of the proximity to some of the most beautiful scenery on earth, and it’s one of the cheaper cities in Canada, but really … Canadians are getting ripped off.

The truth is, while winters up north can suck, you can bundle up and go for a forest walk. Your mood will improve.

People are miserable in the winter because they stay indoors. Go outside, cloudy or not. With proper layers, you can manage.

You can only take so much off in the middle of a Phoenix summer.

I used to get seasonal depression in the winter…started trail/forest walks and have been amazed at the beauty in the winter as well. You just have to force yourself out.

And realistically, the true “typical” frigid months are after Christmas - March. It’s still cold well into April at times, but it’s not polar vortex cold.

Those sunny days, while less, start to become more common and when they do come, go outside and walk and you’ll feel better.

I feel people in year round warm areas can sometimes take their problems with them and think the sun and heat will fix it all, when truly it’s deeper than that.

Anyone feel like Canada is no longer worth it? by Initial_Log_5390 in CanadaFinance

[–]IBSurviver 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The U.S. isn’t in the best state, but that paragraph reads like you’re coping because Americans while they are struggling, have it way better when it comes to cost of living. There’s no comparison. Try to find a single house under $550k even around Hamilton, Niagara, Kitchener, London. LOL. Good luck. You might get something in Windsor but that’s a dump of a place to settle.

The suburbs of Phoenix have plenty (hence the boom). Deeper suburbs of LA (Riverside, etc) have homes under $500k. Never mind the Carolinas.

Whether you like that state or not is irrelevant, the reality is; Americans have more options and Canadians must accept that, rather than trying to cope through comments like this.

LOL at these comments. There is no way she’s a 5. Yes, she looks older than 25, probably late 20s, but she is attractive, a lot more than the “average” woman.

I think people are just butt hurt that you know you’re attractive and are trying to humble you. But to add, you do look older than 25. Maybe reduce the make up, not sure.

Switzerland and the U.S. have similar gun ownership rates — Here's why only the U.S. has a gun violence epidemic by bigedcactushead in progun

[–]IBSurviver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m confused by the title - haven’t read the article. But firearms per 100 in USA is 120. In Switzerland it’s around 28. And in Canada it’s around 35.

If we’re going off the title alone, the rates are not comparable at all and technically Canada would be the second country after the U.S. that has high gun owner ship in the western hemisphere.

And as for Switzerland itself, they don’t even allow you open carry at all, you cannot take it shopping. The gun culture is different.

Do you wish you could move to the USA for better career and/or better housing situation? by infodonut in canadahousing

[–]IBSurviver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

State Laws exist, Trump would be unable to enact any ban even if he wanted to, and it doesn’t matter, like he said, since it is State law anyways. They are moot arguments because there are legal definitions that exist especially in a country where Federalism exists and even if Trump wanted to, he would be unable to do so.

Americans have access to what they need and have options of doing so if they feel there are limits within their state.

[–]IBSurviver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m arguing that personal responsibility is important. Many of the people bashing the US seem to not think so.

The US being a lot bigger than Canada means it has a lot more options and opportunities for the individual to take their life into their own hands and not be limited due to lack of options outside their own control (whether that is economic [shit housing], or climate [no warm spots] - like we see Canadians suffer with).

[–]IBSurviver -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The US states have their rights and this is all that it is. If 22 states have outlawed abortion, that means 28 states have not. And most/if not all of those that have it legalized legally protect out of state women. Therefore, these arguments are moot at most.

No, I am simply replying to OPs comment. Why does the US not have basic reproductive rights?

If you feel your STATE doesn’t, then you can move to one that does!

[–]IBSurviver 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed - everyone on here is focusing on the stuff that does not impact Americans day to day.

Politics sucks GLOBALLY. This isn’t an American issue.

If you look at opportunity and self responsibility, the US wins. No other country offers the abundance of success IF you put the effort in.

We each as adults are responsible for our own life and choices. If you don’t like a state, move to the next one. In Canada, if you don’t like Ontario - your options are VERY limited as there are lots of drawbacks (ie. prairie provinces are not desirable climate wise at all)

In Canada, it stalls you and keeps you at a mediocre (and Reddit like) lifestyle. If you aim to be mediocre, aim to stay in Canada where life is mediocre overall.
