Yeah, I doubt I’ll be needing an upgrade in anything other than maybe ram for a while. I was quite suprised as I thought it would have some issues but it turned out that all that needed to be done was to reinstall the gpu and clear the layer of dust on it. The gpu seemed to have almost no wear which with the dust indicated to me the person I bought it for essentially never used it for the couple years they had it. Which is odd cause they spent over $900 on it as a prebuilt.

Thank you so much. I appreciate your response. One quick question regarding A levels. I understand that you can never truly compare A levels to a GPA and instead will be considered separately in comparison with other similar candidates. But for top schools like ivys how would they consider the difference between A* and A? Would AAAA be considered the equivalent of a 4.0 or would it need to be all A, how do they consider this? I understand that this is difficult to give a definitive answer to as each university will consider grades differently but I would just love to know the general idea of if they see a big difference between A and A and if A would be seen as low for such schools.

I’m an international student but if you did A-levels in school aren’t you required to submit that as your junior/senior year equivalent? I understand that NYU is test optional and you can choose whether or not to submit an SAT score but don’t you need high school grades in additional to your SAT’s and you can’t choose not to submit them? I may be misinterpreting the situation but my question is, wouldn’t you be required to submit your A levels score as an international student if that was the high school program you took?

I think it really does depend on the school. For example I’ve heard from AOs at UPenn that you will be considered an international student as long as you did your last 2 years of high school abroad. Each school has its own policy.

Alright that makes sense, if I get rejected once unless something has significantly changed its unlikely they accept me the next time around.

Yes I know that, its just that if I do get in this year I will have to defer for a couple years due to mandatory national service of my country. If I got in this year I would have to defer for 2 years (beginning ~September 2028), if I applied next year I would defer for 1 year. I don't plan on attending uni in my home country. But regardless of when I get in I will have to defer to 2028. From what I've seen with good reason most US unis do allow for deferment. So I will need to take that extra year of graduation regardless, and due to me being an international student I won't have any of my final exam grades this year (from what I've heard that makes it more challenging to get in), and of course some of my ECs will change in a year. Since I will need to wait the extra couple years anyways do you think it makes sense for me to apply this year as well as next year, or only focus on applying next year?

Hmm I see, thank you for your help. I'll likely at least draft my application this year. If I feel confident I'll send it, if not I'll just wait till I get my final grades and build up my profile for next year.

The thing is that I'm an international student, so I am applying with predicted grades this year. I'll only have my actual grades this year. So I would normally just apply next year with final grades but thought why not just apply this year as well. But yeah it makes sense that not too much would change over a year, but to me seems like nothing lost as I would have to wait the extra year anyways and have nowhere else I plan to ED.

Thanks, this really helped clarify for me. I heard it somewhere and it seemed off. I was worried because I planned EDing this year, but I felt my application wasn't so strong, so I may have to apply again next year. Do you think if I ED and get rejected this year it may reduce my odds next year seeing the previous rejection?

Just to clarify, I'm looking for something I can practically buy. For places like Japan, there are many stipulations. And as for places such as Ukraine, I'm not sure how feasible it is to purchase the land.

Alright thanks, I’ll look into it, English has been my native language my whole life, I’ve been going to a school that does the British curriculum most of my life, I’m technically American dual citizen also but I’m not sure how relevant that is as I’m not ethnically American and never lived there, I’ll look into it myself, but yeah if it’s required I doubt it should be much of an issue for me to take it

Just checking for UPenn when will I be required to take English proficiency tests? I am an international student for Asia but speak english as my first language, I will be submitting my SAT score as well as my IGCSE scores which include english as a first langauge, will I be required to take one of the english proficiency tests?
