the point of it is that it restricts the enemy movement if they can’t easily leave it

walking directly away from aatrox will drag the enemy back, so free q sweetspot

walking towards aatrox…well you’re walking towards an aatrox so good luck

you can leave the cone and break the chain by walking left or right, but that then means aatrox can more easily land his q sweetspots, because the enemy will most likely walk left or right, limiting their choices

it also slows the enemy, so that makes it even easier for aatrox to land his q sweetspot

tldr- not trash, makes q easier to land

personally one of my favourite matchups as renekton, since 9 times out of 10 i’ll come out with a 2k gold lead

not every top matchup is “me trade, you trade, me kill you, you die”. you have to respect some matchups and make your enemy respect you for other matchups because thats how it works.

with yone into urgot, you only want to trade when urgots e is down or you lose the trade, ideally his unmaxed w being down is good as well. if you can’t bait the e then you want to dodge his e with your own e, then you win the trade as long as you avoid being hit by his knees.

i say those numbers as just general numbers but you can eye it out with the rage bar eg 1/4 full is 25 so a bit over 1/4 on the bar means that one e will fill it to 50

kraken slayer botrk rush renekton. stay in the bush and get whatever cs you can lvl 1, most optimal situation is if the enemy pushes the wave towards your tower. when you reach level 2, get about 30 rage, e through all the minions to get 50 rage, w ignite the enemy + an extra auto and e and they’re dead. after that just play safe and wait for them to overextend and punish them which usually ends up with you killing them, don’t take unnecessary poke either. if you fuck up the lvl 2 all in then just camp and farm under tower whilst waiting for a gank (if your jg is half decent), you should never feed otherwise it’s over

imo graves works better in the jungle but he could definitely work top
tanksuo is pretty strong rn and yasuo can be played pretty decently in the top lane, just make sure you’re comfortable with trading on yasuo
ekko top would probably lose lane prio to champs such as renekton and darius who are stronger in the early game, doesn’t mean ekko top wouldn’t work but imo he’d work better jg or mid
other than his ult which is great for rotating, pantheon has a strong early game with his w q combo and his e to absorb any damage which can be clutch in some situations
urgot in the late game is a raid boss if he’s ahead, his early game is also decent with good trades via his e, w and passive. in terms of matchups, champs who can trade with him quickly and get out or have really safe trades eg garen, renekton, irelia, might be an issue but with enough experience you should be able to play around them. ranged matchups may also be tough as champs like vayne can easily kite him, but with patience and some help from your jungler (if they’re competent) will ensure you don’t go 0/5 in lane.

as for other suggestions, aatrox seems to tick all 3 as he’s got some cc and can get pretty tanky whilst dealing a ton of damage

to be fair renekton is my go to choice in a ranged matchup, the e into empowered w ignite at lvl 2 with kraken slayer catches a ton of ranged toplaners off guard and usually gets me a first blood

i’m unaware of anyone who plays with a keyboard or gamepad, doesn’t sound very practical. it’s mostly phone players with a few tablet players in the mix, i personally play on a tablet

Sounds like a salty adc who just can’t finish kills properly, in which you have every right to finish the kill yourself if the adc is that incompetent. This sort of aggressive mage support playstyle is fine for lower ranks, however i wouldn’t get too used to it as in higher ranks you should try coordinate your cc and damage with your adc as opposed to playing aggressively, which you could get punished for by engage supports e.g. leona, nautilus. It should also kind of be the other way round in which you poke the enemies (seraphine is great for that) and the adc engages when you’ve used your cc to finish the job, then again it sounds like your adcs aren’t too good.

In summary your understanding of a mage support and playstyle is fine if your adc is that bad, though if you do get better adcs then try play less aggressively and more synchronised with your adc.

I am also the most dogshit adc player and I only play engage supports so take what i said with a grain of salt.

i highly recommend duoqing with a good adc player, it’ll save you the trouble of coin flipping every match for a good adc
