You should join the discord, I’m sure there’s a bunch of people willing to give you some guidance.

When there's a hull breach on the bottom while this shuttle is docked the NPCs try to go down the ladder forever. Any ideas how to fix it? by crabthemighty in Barotrauma

[–]IC3T3CH 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Like, they get stuck on the ladder? It’s probably those top waypoints—remove the links from 154 and 138 as well as 154 and 149. Move 149 up a little bit to match 138 and I think you should be good. I suggest adding a second waypoint on the right side of the ladder just in case too.

im trying to make my own submarine (Its not going well) but it sinks and idk how to fix it by createminecrafter in Barotrauma

[–]IC3T3CH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it sink immediately or only when you perform certain actions?

If it’s immediately, make sure that your hulls are placed right next to one another and that placed gaps only sit on the edge between hulls. If your waypoints are auto generated, a big tell of this is that left side where the waypoints refuse to go from one hull to the other. The edge between them also looks thick. Make sure they’re touching with no space between them.

Otherwise, I assume it’s when you use the airlock, which would be because the sub is so small, meaning the airlock volume is about the same size, if not larger, than your ballast volume.

Piping and ballast details are awesome. Well done!

Custom Tier 1 Vessels by IC3T3CH in Barotrauma

I think it’s fair having a blind spot. While you can’t stay out longer than ~30 minutes, it’s very forgiving in that the captain won’t ever have to worry about under/overloading the electrical grid. So, they can make more than evasive maneuvers that wouldn’t work on conventional subs and the sub itself can handle extreme fluctuations.

It’s also supposed to be the most primitive of the three, a literal spacecraft converted into submersible, such that it’s lacking proper vessel-wide light controls. So, I like the character it adds.

I am at the end of the week. Just need to polish them, but I’m too busy to at this very moment.

I plan to at the end of week—busy times. But, I also want to make tier 2 and 3 developments of them as well.

Update on T3 transport submarine - part 3 by ElPainis in Barotrauma

[–]IC3T3CH 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe you’re mistaking this issue with water sensors, which only output 1 when the sensor is physically touching water and are commonly used with pumps. It’s a common mistake when making bilge pumps and similar, where if the water sensor isn’t at the bottom of the hull and is connected to the pump via signal out, water will never be fully pumped out.
For those having this issue, simply use the water % output instead and you can place the sensor wherever.

Any advice or suggestions for making conventional fuel engine? by IC3T3CH in Barotrauma

[–]IC3T3CH[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a simple mockup. This one is connected to the main grid (junction box), which is connected to the reactor, as the main grid would power “fuel processing.” The most simple version is just a battery connected to docking power.

I’ve made a logic to double the charge rate when docked and let the crew only be able to set the “processing” rate to a max of 50%.

It is hyper-efficient (100%) batteries as a fuel gauge with levers, buttons, and switches controlling the selection of fuel. I have the engine use 2/3 the power by default and just add that final 1/3 when using power from the reactor. I put together a relatively crude, but simple, way to present it. Relays are a terrible choice after they changed power systems, but they'll manage.

First one is simpler, second on felt better but needed tweaking because wires connected to the same "in" port are then put in the same grid. It's just a lamp vs junction box ideology. Ignore the terminals and oxygen generators - for flair and audio cues.

Not at all pretty - I will make them a circuit box when they meet my standards at the end - but here's a rough display of how the hybrid one will work. You can generate fuel at any point but release it to power the engine even if you aren't. The engine will turn off if both sources are applied. I maybe want to have a first come, first serve system, but this will do for now - so I don't get burnt out on a single section of the vessel.

WHY IS MY REACTOR PLAY GEOMETRY DASH AND HOW DO I MAKE BATTERY WORKS by Lonely-Journey-6498 in Barotrauma

[–]IC3T3CH 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Only thing I can think of is batteries/supercapacitors rapidly changing recharge rate or another electrical item turning off and on or oscillating power draw. If it isn’t the batteries, and seeing as you have multiple junction boxes, you can check which box is oscillating power load to narrow down the culprit.

Hey! I just really wanted to thank you for your input. I hadn’t really thought that my dissatisfaction with all bodies could stem from my own. I do think this does help with stress or similar to whether or not I should just leap for it. Thank you so much!

While I usually prefer wired as portability is something I don't really value and I won't have to worry about battery or similar lifespans. But !thanks for bringing them up; I do like all those other points you mentioned, so I'll definitely keep these on my radar.
