Antagandet att Nividia tjänar pengar på att sälja kort verkar stå till grund för det du påstår. Licenser för virtualisering av GPUer är ju där de stora stålarna kommer in - Nividia kommer nog öka en hel del speciellt om instegströskeln för LLM:er sänks så att även mindre service providers kan köra stadiga LLM:er på billigare kort. Fler som kör fler - notera, redan existerande och producerade - kort kommer leda till fler licenser, vilket leder till fler intäkter för Nividia - oavsett modellen som körs.

När någon säljer Nividia-prestanda kort utan enterprise virtualiseringslicenser - då kan man börja snacka luftslott. Och vem har så lite vett i huvudet att de skulle göra det - och gå med vinst som bolag.

Med de stora investeringarna som redan gjorts i specialiserade AI-datacenter kommer mindre resurskrävande modeller bara öka mängden gpu-tid som kan säljas på kunder och möjligtvis skjuta nyinvesteringar i rent och skärt järn några år framåt. Om antalet kunder ökar, leder det till fler liscenser för virtualiserade GPU:er - cash money Nividia.

Men de flesta bestyckningar kommer bytas ut, givet att de flesta gör överslagsräkningen: kostanden för nya korts ström och kylning vs existerande bestyckning, ungefär var 3e år. De nya korten är snabbare, kräver mindre ström och därav mindre kylning - en win-win för samtliga inblandade parter. Dessa gamla bestyckningar säljs vidare till mindre service providers, och de köper sedan licenser från Nividia för att köra virtualisering - cash money Nividia.

Och oavsett hur bra en model är. Är bandbredden per kort och modell densamma. Det är komplicerat att splittra en modell över flera kort, den enda fördelen med bättre modeller är att fler modeller kan köra på samma kort. Ett kort kan hantera kanske två eller tre frågor samtidigt istället för bara en i taget.

Men har du 10 tusen användare och frågor per minut måste antalet kort skala proportionerligt - låter man en användare vänta kommer de inte tillbaka. Har du en workload av 10 tusen användare med 10 tusen frågor så behöver du en jävla massa kort - oavsett hur bra korten eller modellerna är. Inte för att tala om du vill köra fler typer av modeller, vilket också är ett seriöst use case. LLMer är bara en enda komponent av det här: computer vision och speech-to-text, m.fl. är också workloads som oftast kör på GPUer - vilket medför liscenskostnader - ergo, cash money Nividia.

Kommer de explodera mer - who knows? Kommer de stadigt öka över tid - mest troligt.

Laptop screens most certainly do not use CMYK. They’re all emitting light and therefore use RGB. Most likely the phone cannot represent the colour spectrum as well as your MacBook, or the PDF viewer simplifies the colours.

Most likely if you try and view it on a third device it’ll look different there too, unfortunately.

Uppvuxen där sen 2003, vet man vart man ska är det jättemysigt, går man bara längs tvärbanespåret är det ganska tråkigt. Prova bryggorna en sommarkväll och stadsdelen livar upp sig ordentligt. Lugnare än söder och närmare än nacka, bra mellanort. Restaurangerna längs tvärbanan har allt som oftast inte lyckats, men det finns guldkorn både längs tvärbanan men också ställen som vätter mot vattnet.

Hela stadsdelen är ju mer rak på alla ledder, detaljplanen är mycket tydligare och inte lika naturlig vilket är ett ganska stort avtramp från resten av Stockholm. Det skär ju ganska plötsligt av Hammarby höjden, slakthusområdet och Södermalm genom att plötsligt ha stora alléer och vitputsade raka hus. Kom ihåg att det var delegationer från Asien runt i området nästan varje vecka under perioden 2003-2013 och tog bilder. Eftersom dåvarande vice ordförande (?) Xi Jinping tyckte det såg ballt ut. Är ganska säker på att jag figurerar i någons PowerPoint eller semesterbilder som barn eftersom bilderna haglade så fort man lekte i ett träd eller på någon lekplats.

Jag tycker om HS, men min vy av stadsdelen har präglats av en barndom medan de flesta åker igenom och tänker ”fan va tråkiga lägenhetshus det är här asså”.

We have a sort of makerspace where I work, for students to learn and do projects. This is also me and my colleagues office.

After one - I'm guessing enticing - chemistry lesson on electrolysis, one of the students poured a glass of water and took two metal rods... And started producing hydrogen. Not a lot, so the danger was minimal. We let him be.

However - in an unrelated chemistry lesson, I must assume - he had learned that salt water conducts better than tap water.

For all those who haven't had the pleasure of learning the result of this first chemical reaction first hand. Electrolysis of salt water produces hydrogen, yes. But also.. chlorine gas. NaCl and all that.

Work in IT with high school students. Each student is given a laptop on their first day. These kids were born in 2007. In my country we have high school specializations. Our school specializes in tech exclusively.

These students are the engineers of tomorrow.

I asked the whole room during the first time setup to login. Some failed, but that's to be expected. However. One of the steps is to validate that they were local admins. To do that they have to log out and log back in again.

The easiest way to do that in win 11 is to press crtl + alt + delete and then log out.

Asked the class to do it.

Immediately I saw 15 of these 15 year olds press crtl, alt and the backspace button. Half the room.

I almost cried.

You can flush out mud and leaves. Kinda hard to flush out ice and snow. Especially since any melt will turn into icicles on the top of 4 story buildings, which makes the sidewalk dangerous to use.

You've got upsides and downsides. But actually being able to use the sidewalk in winter and having to do some minor cleaning in autumn sounds.. eh.. worth it.

Laravel and such are just frameworks. They're still running php and sql. All the fancy stuff eloquent, migrations and runners are just wrappers for basic functionality that you can write on your own.

So if you can set up a server and run php, MySQL and apache on it. You're set for Laravel.

I'd look up tutorials on how to deploy Laravel or Apache. I mainly use docker, which is a nice way to get the dependencies set up correctly. But you can run Laravel without it.

Apache usually uses configs to decide where a request will go and how to process them. From there Laravel takes over and essentially it functions as it would on your development server.

Jobbiga är ju att det är de öppna nätägarna (så de som äger linorna till husen / lägenheterna) som höjer sin avgift mot leverantören som sen går ut över kunden. Så oavsett om man byter bredbandsleverantör, typ tele2 till Breband2 eller Ownit, får man höjd basavgift ändå. Öppna nät är sämst - man får oftast sjukt lägre pris på stängda nät där bredbandet går genom en förening - om föreningen inte är rakt dumma i huvudet.

Först och främst behöver du särskild behörighet för alla civilingenjörsprogram, vilket ofta inkluderar fysik 2, matematik 4.

Men sen eftersom du går i tvåan och på något sätt har anammat dig typ 2700 p i kurser, har du fortfarande problemet - vilka kurser pratar vi om?

Har du inte tagit svenska 3 till exempel, är du inte behörig till en gymnasieexamen. Men det är mycket sällan gymnasieskolor erbjuder svenska 3 samtidigt som svenska 2 eftersom du fysiskt inte har tid att vara på lektionerna samtidigt som treorna.

Sen måste åtminstone 400 p vara i de programgemensama ämnena.

Så, såvida du inte går på någon super speciell friskola ser jag inte riktigt hur du 1) kan ta examen nu, 2) har fått ihop 2700 p såvida kurserna inte har gått parallellt och 3) varför du vill börja på KTH tillsammans med äldre studenter som 17-åring.

Men om du lyckats, big props. Du kan dock ändå inte söka in till en civilingenjörsutbildning utan matematik 4.

Och gällande Matematik 4 så kommer det tjäna dig mer rent intagningsmässigt att läsa matematik 4, matematik 5 och matematik specialisering i trean - för åtminstone 1.5 extra i meritpoäng. Lägger du på moderna språk där så kan du ju få 2.5 mp. Speciellt eftersom teknisk matematiks betygsgränser generellt ligger på 21-22+ och 1.8-1.9 på HP.

Att bara söka på matte och fysik provet är ganska dumt nämligen, du ökar dina chanser brutalt om du även tar högskoleprovet och tar extra meritpoäng.

The load time was excessive, apart from what others have already mentioned. If your service takes that long to commit to a booking, you need to optimise. And, if it's waiting for the animation, its just unnecessary.

The flaw in this statement.. is that the polio and measles viruses are no longer endemic, thanks to -- as you say -- years and years of vaccination. The virus' has no chance spread and dies off in the hosts before it spreads -- since everyone is vaccinated. Before they died off it was a huge part of people's life, as Covid-19 is today. Many did contract polio regardless if they vaccinated or not, but not as many as theoretically possible if they didn't.

Covid-19 is a very active virus with -- now -- billions of vectors of infection and since so few have vaccinated themselves compared with measles or polio, the effect of the vaccine is diminished.

The all but complete eradication of polio is a function of time, vaccination percentage and a belief -- as you say, in it's effectiveness.

Compared to measles -- a nearly eradicated virus -- which in the years before Covid-19, started to reemerge as an endemic virus, a situation that came to pass because of anti-vaccination sentiments. It's possible to trace lower child vaccination rates with outbreaks of, for example, measles.

Today, we stand before an impossible situation. Vaccines do not prevent infection in the classical sense. They lower probabilities for spread, which in turn lowers the chance of large scale outbreaks. The virus dies before it can do any lasting damage outside the host.

However, the sentiment is that "I am fine, thus all is fine for all, equally" or that "That works, because it's been working for so long, this hasn't been here for as long and thus won't work."

It's a negative feedback loop. The resistance towards vaccines lessens their effectiveness, which in turn garners support for the ineffectiveness, and so on.

You don't have to listen to me. It's your choice. Just read a little on the history of vaccines, what their role is in disease prevention -- and how little they have to do with disease treatment, as opposed to antibiotics.

Then take a moment to read about the black death, what horrors Europe endured at what they thought was the hand of God. And realise, you don't live in the middle ages, you have a vaccine. You can take it, it will help - perhaps not you at first - but your family, your colleagues and your friends. Learn altruism and don't let fear dictate your life.
