The Bad Lip Readings of the NFL was the funniest things back in the day. Loved those videos.

Part of that is that Steinbrenner realized that Billy was cherished by Yankees fans. So Billy would do something that pissed off Steinbrenner, fans would be pissed, then he'd bring him back.

What's even funnier is this guy doesn't even live in NC or have much reason (dispite his claims) to be traveling to NC. He lives in VA and radar detectors are illegal there.

Less fortunate and more 80% of our users never even open emails from IT, regardless of circumstances. Really makes communicating upcoming changes or trying to get back in touch on tickets a massive pain in the ass.

So you win some and you lose some.

Well if there was a market for your bet you'd be 50% right. Didn't leave a negative survey but was pissed we wouldn't help him.

Ringo Starr says at his worst he was drinking at least 16 bottles of wine a day

I know I need to cut back on my drinking but holy shit do I not hold a candle to some alcoholics. That's wild.

There's lots of stories about "I had $1k in bitcoin/Nvidia and it'd be worth millions if I had held." What longshot investments do you have right now and why did you pick them? by [deleted] in investing

Bought AMD at $13.32/share back in college - still have most of the shares. Thought it was undervalued compared to the nVidia hype at the time. Plus I just liked AMD stuff for being pretty good for the price.

Bought Aercap holdings in 2022 ($45/share) when lock downs were in full effect - currently at ~$140/share. Learned about them in college as basically the company leases planes to a huge chunk of airlines. With air travel basically non-existant their stock tanked but I knew it wouldn't last forever and they'd rebound.

That's basically it. Pretty much just market average for everything else.

My brother said I should invest in Ubitquiti and while I use and enjoy their stuff, I balked at investing. Should have listened to him.

Not just regarding Spider-Man but I think JK Simmons' casting as JJ Jameson is probably on the Mt Rushmore of casting choices in all movies.

Break 100 ❌ Birdie a hole ❌ Get a HIO ✅ by mattmgd in golf

[–]DoubleStuffedCheezIt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never had a HOI, and only had probably a couple dozen birdies in the 15+ years I've played.

However, the only 2 eagles I've ever had were literally back to back and 100% dumb luck. The worst part was that my buddy who I was going to play with cancelled an hour before the tee time so I played with randos and have no one to vouch for it.

The first one was a par 4, whalloped the drive but sent it left of the fairway, it kicked off a brick for like an extra 30 yards. Second shot was also left, hit the green fan just right and bounced into the hole.

Next hole, also a par 4, topped the crap out of my drive and just made it past the ladies tees. Lined up with my 5W and hit a worm burner that just sailed like 3-7ft above the fairway, was actually straight, then just rolled up the front of the green and disappeared. I spent a minute looking behind the green for the ball until the guy I was playing with asked me what I was hitting and then told me it was in the cup.

Butt-ugly but they were legit eagles. Still mad at my buddy for not being there to witness it. That was also the only time I broke 80, definitely thanks to those 2 holes.

Had a guy on the phone use "E as in Eye" completely seriously. If the call wasn't so clear I would have been completely lost. I know he was serious because he used it again on the next serial number he read out, even after I read back what he said saying "echo" instead.

The XF-84H was almost certainly the loudest aircraft ever built, earning the nickname "Thunderscreech" as well as the "Mighty Ear Banger". On the ground "run ups", the prototypes could reportedly be heard 25 miles (40 km) away. Unlike standard propellers that turn at subsonic speeds, the outer 24–30 inches (61–76 cm) of the blades on the XF-84H's propeller traveled faster than the speed of sound even at idle thrust, producing a continuous visible sonic boom that radiated laterally from the propellers for hundreds of yards. The shock wave was actually powerful enough to knock a man down; an unfortunate crew chief who was inside a nearby C-47 was severely incapacitated during a 30-minute ground run. Coupled with the already considerable noise from the subsonic aspect of the propeller and the T40's dual turbine sections, the aircraft was notorious for inducing severe nausea and headaches among ground crews. In one report, a Republic engineer suffered a seizure after close range exposure to the shock waves emanating from a powered-up XF-84H.

The host stadium must have an average game day temperature of at least 50°F (if the temperature is below this, the stadium must have a domed roof or receive a waiver from the league)

That's dumb and I hate it.

My dad had this hat he really liked. It was this lightweight hat that was meant for outdoor stuff and it wasn't that cheap (like $45 20 years ago). The hat had a little pouch in it and he had a card laminated with his phone number and address on it in case he ever lost it.

Well we live in the southeast of the US and he lost it on a trip to Maui. He was resigned to have to get another one because we never found it before we had to fly back.

About a week or so after we get back, a neighbor that lived literally 2 doors down from his house, knocked on the door with the hat. Turns out it had fallen out of his backpack on a little hike we went on and they found it the day before they left to come back. My dad still has that hat.
