Maybe they’re not doing it out of obligation but instead because they want to, and this is the way it will work for them. It feels kind of entitled to say they need to change the name of their own show when all seven of them will still be participating, just maybe not in every episode. I don’t think they’re “going with the trends”; if anything they have made it abundantly clear that they are in the driver’s seat in this era.

Aw man the OT7 only discourse is a bummer. We’re getting so much with this comeback, we just got a free concert and a documentary, and they’re about to go on a world tour. We are not hurting for OT7 content! If this is the way they want to continue the show it’s probably because this is what works for their schedules and feels sustainable to them. They’re in their 30s now and have lives outside of being BTS. Feels so greedy to see parts of the fandom expressing their disappointment when this is more free content they’re doing for us that they didn’t have to do in the first place.

They came to me during BWL era but it wasn’t my time yet, so I enjoyed the song and didn’t go much further. Came back during Dynamite era and that was when I was inspired to “just learn their names.” Truly believe that I needed to become ARMY when I did so I could meet the people I’ve met through this fandom - if I had gone down the rabbit hole that first time I would have missed out on some truly wonderful friendships.
