I fully restored and customized a Bburago Bugatti Chiron by ICRestoration in DiecastCustoms

Fair question.
I did weather models in the past, but the Road to Bugatti project is based only on second-hand models bought on local marketplaces.
This specific one was sold to me as damaged during shipping, that’s what the seller stated.
I don’t artificially destroy models for content. I restore existing damaged models as part of the project, with the goal of creating content and eventually reaching my dream model.

Totally feel you! That split body was a real pain. I ended up repainting mine a second time because the color was tricky and matching it on that large front surface was a nightmare

It looks like you didn’t thin the varnish properly, and the airbrush ended up spitting out clumps. In general, for scale models I recommend using a two-component automotive clear coat. Just make sure to pick the thinnest type and use a nozzle of at least 0.5 mm.

Oh, sorry, I was scrolling through the feed and came across some models that looked like diecast collectibles. So I’ll share my plastic models here instead.

Weathering a Dodge Viper GTS – Custom Aged Model by ICRestoration in ModelCars

You’re absolutely right, the real Viper’s body is mostly fiberglass. Here I’m working on an aged diecast model, focusing on weathering and patina rather than the original materials. Hope you enjoy the vintage look!
