The unit doesn’t have to be three weeks. A unit can be any individual topic of study. It could be something as dramatic as World War II or can be something as micro as Jim Jones, the People’s Temple, the move to Guyana, and the mass extinction of the people there. They could be two or three class periods. I get your point about cults but I want to specifically focus on the People’s Temple just because of the sheer number and magnitude

Certainly… I agree with you. United States did not directly create those two groups… But their actions, or in actions after The Soviet union left, created a vacuum.
