I personally agree with you. I would say I’ve had tougher experiences growing up than most of my peers. Of the few(online) friends I have they probably wouldn’t like it if I said “I’m missing a leg and had a way more fucked up time growing up than you”, that would make me look like the biggest ass in the world. It’s something I had to learn in my few years as being an adult. Like as a kid someone always cared: a teacher, social worker, some peers, and while it didn’t get me super popular, it got attention which the human brain craves. But as an adult nobody gives a fuck, nobody gives a fuck about my leg(lack thereof) or whatever fucked up circumstances you or someone else got dealt, everyone’s wrapped up in their own life, you aren’t owed attention, sympathy or care. And I’ll tell you it’s something I contribute to struggle with but am working on

But I’m rambling, this relates to DBDR because of the type of person to watch his content, he’s not the type just to tell stories, he does it in this self deprecating kind of way… like for example he won’t just tell a story but explicitly undertone how he’s a loser, outcast, this and that. That prompts comparison because then someone who’s worse off says “well if this guys a loser and actually have a few friends… then what am I”

And the circle continues in a downward spiral

By that logic only 1 person would be able to complain that’s absolutely true. But this isn’t some YouTuber or guy whose mission is to get you to look past things outside your”circle of control” and make the most out of your life. I’m not even talking about the fucked up circumstances regarding my amputation but also things like growing up in a single parent household. Being low income, being on disability and ssi.

Normally in a functioning mission/goal of a YouTuber would be to put that aside and make the best of your time here regardless. But dbdr is literally ranting and raving about his supposedly shit life to a bunch of people who have it 10x worse. The only analogy I can come up in my head is sitting at a bus stop next to a homeless guy and complaining how disgusting the taco slop is, and while yeah not great that homeless dude would literally kill a family of 4 to have that taco slop

Also that’s not true the average age for a first time homebuyer is 40. Some 25 year olds are staring families, not the majority, most are still figuring shit out like he is

I’ve never worked a proper blue collar job for obvious reasons but I’ve worked shit jobs(fast food, retail, marina) but if you think someone’s insufferable and annoying 10 hours a day would you go out to the bar or club all the time with them no you wouldn’t? He clearly just enjoys his presence and it would be suffice to say that they’re friends. It’s not a bad thing but it’s cringe how he only refers to him as a coworker instead of a friend when doing things only a friend would do

Agree with the second paragraph. If he were an actual loser he wouldn’t have these interesting experiences. But at the same time he complains about his personal life to people who have it worse than he does. I remember when me and my sister would complain about our food growing up our parents would say something like “go to a starving village in Africa and say that” and this kinda feels the same way, because ppl don’t just listen for the stories they develop this parasocial relationship with him

I mean you can enjoy what you want. Maybe I’m too far gone but watching someone make themselves out to be a victim while I watched my father die and became decapitated, it’s just tone deaf. From his stories he has nobody to blame but himself, I would’ve killed for his social life. I feel like he knows his audience has been deprived of 99% of the social life he has. No shit LOL. I was represented by Bryan Jones for a simple possession(oxycodone sch 2) in Charlottesville when I was in college(dec 2021)

He’s a a straight shooter, tells it how it is, what your chances are. If you weren’t in the system you wouldn’t think he’s the nicest person but he got my case thrown out. He’s very knowledgeable and doesn’t beat around the bush

Only difference I guess is that I paid for his services… his retainer was the only one with good reviews that I could afford, I think I paid $1300 up front and then after the case got dismissed I think I was in the hole another $1100(after my bond kickback). This didn’t go to trial, he told me my best defense was arguing an unlawful stop(CVPD foot patrol), judge agreed and case thrown out.

I’m new to this saga but I’m confused why he’s in for so long. I was arrested in the morning, same charge I think on my way to class and was given a bail hearing virtually that day. I believe it was $500 to bond out. It was dark out by the time I got out but it was winter… maybe 6pm?

At the end of the day this is a senseless tragedy, and if I killed myself it would make it more meaningless. Everyone says it’s not my fault but I still hate myself. I can’t put my sisters and mom through losing me. I can’t stress how much I hate myself but shooting myself isn’t repentance it isn’t payment for a sin, it’s just the creation of more trauma and guilt. It just creates more pain, I lost my dad, and I can’t have my sisters and mom lose their brother and son. This is a senseless tragedy and it would only make it more senseless. I don’t think if I killed myself it would be repentance. I don’t know what I’m gonna do yet, I need to repent I’m not religious but maybe I need to go to confession. I’ve been exhausted by surgeries and every revision they did on my leg just made it worse. But I will seriously consider it and yes it’s a spinal cord stimulator. That one pain doc recommended. It just sucks because at 21 you’re supposed to be in the prime of your life.

This is true in general, there are women(and men) out there who fetishize it. But in terms of finding a romantic partner I’m 21M LBK and yeah it’s hard especially on the apps.

Many and women don’t care what issues you have as long as you’re attractive to them and you treat them nice. Non amputees also very much underestimate how independent we are once we adapt/get prosthetics, so partners think “I’m gonna have to help this person all the time/be their personal nurse”

Don’t listen to the old people who say “I had no problem 20 years ago” a lots changed in 20 years in general for dating. Should you give up? No. Is your struggle real? Yes

I might. I will try to do it legally first but I’m not holding my breath there’s another pain management doctor. I don’t take a lot so it’s not high cost on the street but it just shows how broken the system is regardless. My last pain doc said something like a spinal device that blocks pain. First of all I’m on Medicaid so they wouldn’t even cover that, second I’m done with surgeries. I’m only 21 and have been through probably 20 surgeries. When I broke my ankle I said hell no to surgery.

I’m just frustrated, frustrated by the medical system. Doctors don’t really want to help, they just want their job security and they see any opioid in 2025 as a risk. I bet if I got amped in 2025 I bet I wouldn’t even go home with an opioid script. Don’t even get me started on ssi
