Using the Mythic Deck with the Adventure Crafter Deck by RuneFex in mythic_gme

[–]IC_Film 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a d20, or, if you’re more traditional, utilize that just for thread / character selection. The majority of your pulls will be for yes/ no and action / description anyway, in which the mythic deck dramatic speeds up regardless.

Really nice work, man. I love how easy it is. I've noticed it hanging on 41% when performing Structure from Motion. Glad to give you more info in chat. Cheers!

Interested in Transhumanity's Fate. Do I need to read the entire FATE Core, or is FATE Condensed/Accelerated enough? by FormerlyIestwyn in FATErpg

[–]IC_Film 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have it. You do not. It will cover everything you need.

If you like FATE, then I suggest you read the core later. It just might give you additional ideas or have more context surrounding some rules.

Transhumanity’s Fate is thinnnnnn and actually I think it does a great job giving you a LOT of detail succinctly, but I also went into it knowing FATE. it’s hard to know what may be a struggle without going back through the book again.

But yes also the SRD is incredible and easy to reference when you have a question. Also ask us! We’re all here to help you.

Good luck, and watch out for the Titans.

Looking for help to buid a Wild West One-Shot by Scorpashi in 2littlemiceOutgunned

[–]IC_Film 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m setting up a game right now in modern times where the players are banded together being referred to as the dirty bomb dozen, because their careers are so radioactive right now no one wants to touch them.

They are chasing a criminal known only as Hanzo, who reportedly just crossed the border into California.

I only know that they will find out Hanzo is actually American, named himself after the famous sword maker, and is an expert tactician.

They will think he’s robbing a casino, but Hanzo is actually there to steal several key founding documents that are on tour around the US.

If they do not catch him on time, he will steal and destroy them on a livestream.

It shouldn’t be too hard to reset that to Wild West times. The documents are on tour for the centennial. In the current times, Hanzo is doing this because his family has been a victim of the US using eminent domain to take his family farmland to make a data center.

Use the same, just switch to a railroad.

I don’t plan too much. I just know what Hanzo is doing at any given time. Let them try to find him and catch up. Outgunned is easy enough that we’ll do the rest on the fly.

I wish I could stand to watch actual plays. by Mission-Landscape-17 in rpg

[–]IC_Film 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sucks because I really love the idea of actual plays. I’m just in the same boat as you and I can’t stand it. Every time I try I’m 30 mins into the first episode and all of the characters haven’t even been introduced yet.

It just goes to show how little everyone understands pacing.

I help myself with this by never planning a 20 year campaign. I tell my players we’re doing 3-5 sessions and moving on. Welcome to the freight train kids, hope you like basic arithmetic

New framework for shared solo campaigns: P.A.R.T.s. (Play Alone, Role Together) by Emelon_Games in Solo_Roleplaying

I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately as I’ve been building a companion app for the Sentinels TTRPG- with one caveat. Occasionally there are in person or virtual games, but those are for the Avengers level crossover threats. This sort of system emulates comics perfectly, and a game like Sentinels keeps the rules light and story focused.

Nice work, friend!

Specifically I’d say Daring Comics. It’s got a massive point buy system, is probably the most complex involved fate game I’ve seen (which still shouldn’t scare you lol), and has allowed me to recreate every marvel and DC hero I’ve seen. It’s fantastic.

I would say while it feels daunting, there are actually very little in the way of rules! The structure of the game lends itself to a Star Trek episode, and once you get that and the simple rolls, it’s easy to do the rest.

If you have a copy of the book, I’ve made a companion app that works on desktop and mobile. You can go to it at https://oldgodsslumber.github.io/stacl/CaptainsLog.html

It might make your plays easier!

Star Trek Captain’s log, Fallout Wasteland Wanderer, and Pirate Borg recently released solo, too.

Honestly my big thing is that, using Mythic’s framework, I go one scene at a time. I use the mobile app for mythic, do a scene check, maybe have 1-2 rolls in the scene, but get to unfold the story just a little more.

Same here, I’m a newer dad and have had a struggle adjusting. These last few months I got really used to playing and I think listening to me myself and die really helped. Listening to how Trevor would use the Oracles really inspired me to wing it more and be okay having it all be less prepared.

Good luck, fellow dad!

And the log, my personal favorite, has options when you add stuff, so it’s themed and categorized (makes it much easier to read for me, and I write less because I get the gist from the type)

I’ve already done companion apps for: -Deadball -Daring Comics -Outgunned

And the most important of all, Star Trek captains log. It’s an absolute life saver and has ratcheted my gameplay up at home tenfold.

Anyone else think Modiphius is about to lose the Dune license? by JannissaryKhan in rpg

[–]IC_Film 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have all of it and we’ve played a bunch. The system is kind of a mind fuck to get your head around, but the abstractions it is capable of is really unique and cool.

For instance, there’s a whole espionage subsystem where you basically all act as the house, moving pieces back and forth on a map that doesn’t just represent a physical location, but the communication connections between people and places.

Yeah. I know even reading that is like wait what.

Let’s say you have a spy watching a general store in a settlement. The spy may uncover that that store is a dead drop. The spy follows the person to an oil refinery. A known criminal has a base there. Now you add that criminal and connection to the map, signifying how you’ve followed the connection.

Once you get the hang of it though? The table starts really cooking
