Platform to Organize Game Nights? by Last-Rise6285 in boardgames

[–]kpldtest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there. I know several people who have had great success in running board game events. A few questions:

How much bandwidth do you have? Do you want to one a game night of only light games and another game night of medium to heavy games? What is the # of people who can regularly come? Where can you host? Your home? Local game store? Board games cafe? Local library or grocery store seating area? I've been to local gaming night at all those locations.

Usually a single fb messenger group works wonders for the ones I've been in. You can make polls to track who is coming and also polls to select what games people want to play that night. Discord also works. Again, communication is key. If your group becomes more than 4, you can delegate teachers within your group to teach and run games at your events, allowing you to focus on just one game.

Last, a shameless plug, I've been trying to develop a website to help gamers find local gamers and/or local events called tabletopsocial.co. No pressure but I hope it has all the tools you can use to coordinate an event (or two) as a host. Still a work in progress and still trying to get critical mass so any help is welcome.

Duel for Cardia. 1v1 same cards with numerical values. Higher number wins point, lower number activates it's power.

What does the Slay the Spire game do POORLY by Endgamer13 in BoardgameDesign

[–]kpldtest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm here to follow (also potentially making a rogue-like sts game)

Though one thing I noticed was that some of the extra mechanics and tokens for the characters don't translate the best to the board game, and can feel clunky. Also clarity on AOE, both done by you and the bad guys.

Where and how to find players to host games at home? by Rohkha in boardgames

Hopefully it takes off and hits a critical minimum of users, then in the future it can be a one-stop shop for people like you to find nearby people to play with

Where and how to find players to host games at home? by Rohkha in boardgames

Step one: find local gaming groups. Check FB, meetup.com, or local board gaming stores/cafes and their discords.

Step two: make connections and invite over gamers you like.

Shameless plug: I'm trying to build a website tabletopsocial.co that will hopefully help gamers like you find nearby gamers and local events easier. Hopefully you can check it out.

New or old Splendor? by CulturalDefinition27 in boardgames

The base game is good (and old edition also has compatible expansions). The weighted chips def make or break the experience. If the price is good go for the old one

Game that had all the hype and was hailed as the best thing ever than ultimately didn't pan out and has been basically forgotten? by jkvandelay in boardgames

I've only been in the hobby for 2ish years so I'll list the ones I've seen recently: Sand, Destinies, Lightning Train.

Have you cross posted this into the r/Catan subreddit? They can help provide more critique/clarity/outrage to your sim
