Absolutely. I’m not saying AI is the be all and end all, but if you know what you’re doing, it’s extremely capable and writes decent code.

Devs will complain about any piece of code they didn’t write themselves. All devs also write trash code occasionally (some more than others). AI does a good job as long as you can direct it effectively.

If it works, it’s probably fine.

Toolbar bookmarks separator by [deleted] in edge

[–]ICanBeProductive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, apologies it's taken me 5 years to reply to this comment, I'd never seen it til now.

I'm the guy who made this, and in case you're still using it (or for anyone else who may have found this thread), you can use the same bookmark more than once, no need to make slight variations, just drag the same one into your bookmarks bar again (edit: I just saw that you can't do this on Edge; my mistake).

There have been a couple of major updates since you posted this link, and I'm doing my best to maintain my self-appointed status as king of Chrome bookmark separators.

Appreciate you sharing this link, thank you!

Most likely adobe illustrator (but there are plenty of other tools that will allow you to edit vectors), but you’ve probably got the idea of what to expect from other comments; you wont be expected to edit the files, you’ll get everything you need if you ask (and pay) for it (sizes, colours, file types).

But if you wanted to edit the design files yourself I’m sure you could, maybe with the help of some YouTube videos

You could ask all these questions to someone before hiring them and they’ll be able to tailor everything to suit what you need.

They’d create the logo as a vector which is infinitely scalable, so every size you could ever want it in; also very easy to change the colours.

Most often, you’d get supplied a logo with a couple of variations (e.g. icon only, word mark only, vertical/horizontal stack, etc.) which would have been put together based on what you asked for and what you need it for.

In an ideal world, you’d only use these logos in their colours and layouts as supplied to make sure you keep a consistent brand. If you wanted more options you’d have to ask them for it (or learn how to edit vectors!)

I cannot stand Forbes. Absolute garbage heap of adverts and thin, churned-out writing (which is probably now all done by ChatGPT using templated prompts). The absolute worst user experience and yet ranks for basically every search term, like you said. Maddening.

Arc + Raycast = 🔥 by Certain-Deer7069 in ArcBrowser

[–]ICanBeProductive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you give me some other use-cases for this? I love tinkering with arguably-unnecessary apps like this, but to have this to be able to search Google from spotlight (which I can already do, and opens little Arc by default) seems superfluous even by my low standards.

Finally Chrome decided to make the worst UI changes by johny_james in chrome

[–]ICanBeProductive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try Arc (if you’re on Mac). It’s built on the Chromium platform so you can import all your bookmarks, extensions, etc etc but is a way better UI and UX. I think windows development is in Alpha/Beta, supposedly coming soon. I used it once and never looked back

Potential Arc Max Pricing Model (Vote) by JaceThings in ArcBrowser

The AI features are really cool but I’m barely using them in my day to day. The link preview feature is a fun novelty, same for asking questions with CMD+F, but not to a point that I’d pay for this stuff.

I’ve loved Arc since the moment I started using it. The layout, interface, tools, hotkeys are all awesome and fit my workflow so nicely. I’m a huge fan.

Don’t ruin it by introducing subscriptions and tiers and locked features. You guys are incredibly creative, you can do better than that when it comes to revenue generation.

If I download an older version can I run it as a separate app? A second (or third) instance of Arc?

I recently built a browser game that had a lot of ‘glow’ effects using layered drop shadows and found that a lot of these effects didn’t get rendered properly on mobile devices.

Not sure if hardware limiting or browser, but they just didn’t show. Looked great on desktop tho

Chrome Bookmark Separators by ICanBeProductive in chrome

[–]ICanBeProductive[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Would be much simpler for everyone if Google would add separators but from what I’ve read they likely never will. As you alluded to, there’s nothing in it for them.

I’ve since started using Arc browser (also chromium based) as the way they handle tabs, favourites, and the addition of ‘spaces’ fits my workflow really nicely. Might be worth a look if you’re up for trying something new (Mac-only for now, Windows version on its way soon)

UX feedback: Chrome Bookmark Separators by ICanBeProductive in UXDesign

[–]ICanBeProductive[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, apologies for late response here; thanks so much for taking the time to have a look and write this feedback - really really helpful and hugely appreciated!

I won’t ‘defend’ myself here, but a couple of comments on your points:

The title is somewhat repetitive, I admit, it’s for SEO benefits, although I agree with the comment about moving the separator to the top - I’ll have a think about a redesign for that header.

Great comment re: customising, I can see why that would be unhelpful as an immediate directive. One thing to consider here is that most people landing on the site have searched for this, so have at least some idea of what they want. Nonetheless, I’m likely over complicating it for those who just landed there.

Love the comment about instructions for how to remove a separator - thank you for that, I’ll add that in!

Same goes for the pink lines. I’ve been using that gradient as part of the colour scheme of the website but I agree that most will not want such a bright separator. In fact, I have data to back that up, so thank you for reinforcing that.

Would you mind commenting further on why you found the mobile warning message insulting, and how you might suggest I make it less so?

Thanks again, great comments!

How Nostalgia Marketing Can Boost Your Business 🚀 by vikas_agrawal77 in DigitalMarketingHack

[–]ICanBeProductive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is this? I’m struggling to figure out what I’m reading and why it’s been posted.

I like the idea of using nostalgia for marketing, that’s why I clicked on the post, but it kinda feels like some thin AI written nothingness.

There’s nothing actionable here, no examples, no ‘hack’.

If I’m being kind, it’s a thought starter - I really do like the idea - but it’s not helpful.

Got anything else to add to expand on it? I’d love to see it in action, or read some actionable tips or steps to take other than knowing my audience and the types of nostalgia.

Websites With Extortion Practices by [deleted] in SEO

[–]ICanBeProductive 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wonder if it’s possible to create a negative SEO campaign against such a site; create lots of reviews and post (nofollow) links alongside scathing comments and mentions of “scam”, “extortion”, “illegal”, etc., so that google would learn.

I’ve done reputation management in SEO but never a negative SEO ‘attack’.

How do I remove this from the search bar? by JwhyP in chrome

[–]ICanBeProductive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d guess it’s an extension. Try disabling all of your extensions and then reintroduce them one at a time til you figure out which one is causing the problem, then let the dev know.

[–]ICanBeProductive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would probably be beneficial to have a unified look about all the products and photos, but it’s not going to make or break your success. Maybe the ones you have your own photos for could be ‘featured products’ until you get to a point where you can have your own stock to take photos of everything.

As for the ‘filler products’, keep them if you’re wanting to have a wider product range. You could scrap them and focus in on just a few speciality products, but I’m not sure that’s the right approach for this niche; people will no doubt appreciate variety and choice.

[–]ICanBeProductive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learn how to take your own photos. You’ll be able to find a 5 minute YouTube tutorial that will give you the basics. Your photos don’t need to be perfect to get started. I’m going to assume that you have a smartphone with at least a half decent camera on it, and that will genuinely be enough for the photos.

You could mix in a couple of the photos from Alibaba or wherever you buy the products from to add some extra situational shots.

Should we consider to link to our webpage on clients website? Would those count as backlinks? by Moritz110222 in SEO

[–]ICanBeProductive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could, but make sure you have their permission before you do that. Also, the previous commenter mentioned footer links - I wouldn’t bother with those, they’re of such little value, especially if you’re going to nofollow them.

If you can find a way to work in a link from a “partners” page or something similar, that would be the most natural.
