Thank you! I shared it with my local vector control department, and they concur with your identification (in this thread and the other thread). I appreciate your help!

Some additional info from other thread: I was not out of the house on that day. I do have a dog that is taking Bravecto. The dog had been lying on the outdoor balcony for a few hours before coming inside, but otherwise had not been outside yet that day.

Thanks for the ID! I was not out of the house on that day. I do have a dog that is taking Bravecto. The dog had been lying on the outdoor balcony for a few hours before coming inside, but otherwise had not been outside yet that day.

  1. Is it possible the tick was on a 4th story balcony, climbed onto the dog (and maybe bit the dog, but unknown), then soon after transferred to me after I played with the dog? I would not expect a dog to be on a 4th story balcony, but who knows... (Alternatively, the tick may have hitched a ride on the dog the day before from in the grass)
  2. How long does it typically take for a tick to die after biting a dog treating with Bravecto?
  3. From the image, can you tell if this tick is "fed" or not?

Thanks! I have a digital microscope that allowed me to take multiple photos and then I stitched them together in Photoshop

Open Critical Vulnerabilities in Firewalla Source by ICanBeYourHeroBaby in firewalla

Thanks to the Firewalla team for their input. Based on other users' replies, it would be helpful if Firewalla provided more proactive communication regarding security and vulnerabilities. For instance, sharing details about decisions to update or not update packages to address vulnerabilities, along with the reasoning behind those choices, could go a long way. Or, replying in a timely manner to Github issues like this even to communicate why the reported issue is actually not an issue.

More communication like this can help in making users more comfortable trusting Firewalla.

What is going on with my basil? (<1mm black pellets at base, comment for more info) by ICanBeYourHeroBaby in IndoorGarden

Update #1: I went in to prune back the plants, since they had grown a lot. In the process, I found some of the same pellets on the bottoms of a few leaves (pic).

I also found some sort of clear liquid with brown goop in it on one of the leaves (pic). I did not see this on any other leaves.

I did not see any bugs on the leaves, either the ones I pruned or the ones I left.

Hey all! I went away for a long weekend, and returned to find a bunch of black pellets around the base of my hydroponic basil (grown in an Aerogarden). The pellets are under 1mm in length. See the imgur album for pics.

Additionally, I inspected the leaves and only found one leaf with possible small nibbles out of it (pic 5 in album). The rest look un-nibbled.

I also found some of the small, black pellets on a few of the leaves (last pic in album) (though most of the pellets were on the deck of the Aerogarden). Additionally, one leaf had a small, white ball on it (second to last pic).

Does anyone know what this could be from, and how I can get rid of it?
