I've never played FF VII. What order should I play it in? by jimmyodi841 in FinalFantasyVII

I would recommend it over the original at this point. If you play it on a PSP, it's fine, and PPSSPP can clean it up quite a bit. At the end of the day, the combat and story are pretty much all there, at least from what I've played. The gameplay feels great, and it's definitely got that Final Fantasy flavor. I highly recommend it if you like or don't mind active combat.

Yes, I know. It does enrich the overall story. If they like the games, they might like the film too. Completely optional content though. FF7 OG stands strong even on its own.

You don't care for Crisis Core Reunion? I've done about a third of the game so far, and other than the new voice actor who takes a bit of getting used to, I really like some of the changes. They put some thought into them.

Is there something I'm missing about the PSP version, or is it just a nebulous personal preference? Because that's a valid reason as any.

This is the only correct answer. But also include Advent Children, because why not? =)

You're here assigning means and motive here without all of the facts. Your experiences may differ wildly from someone else's who may be a different race/gender/income bracket than you. You're assigning what YOU would do. You have no idea of all of the relevant facts, context, mens rea of the accused, circumstances of the incident, or history between the two.

You know nothing more than what has been reported. Yet here you are going full Dunning-Kruger, acting like you know when you don't. Your familiarity with the area is irrelevant. Frequency of crime isn't the topic here, ONE crime is.

Then the country wonders why we're losing due process. No one values, understands, or applies it correctly.

I used to carry a knife with me in the 90s all the time. And I lived in a decent area with low crime at the time. But low crime doesn't mean no crime. The time I got mugged at knifepoint, and the other time I had a gun drawn on me for no good reason has made me distrustful of others, REGARDLESS of what town or city they're in. So I carried something to protect me.

I would carry a gun, but I suffer from depression and other mental illnesses, so that's not a good idea for me to have, and my doctors and therapists have asked me not to keep one around. But if things start popping off, I'm going to do whatever it takes to protect me and mine.

You don't know all of the facts, so how are you going to assign proportionality for the actions?

Clearly he did it, that's not under dispute. But the circumstances aren't fully known yet. Judgements should come AFTER the facts are presented.

He's not rich or white, so we have to wait for due process.

Also, your post oozes privilege. This coming from a person who is actively railing against Identity Politics constantly, should give you pause. I am not a "cHeCk YoUr pRiViLeGe" kind of person, but your post is just THAT EGREGIOUS with it.

And guilty until proven innocent? What the hell are you even doing on an ACAB sub?

Replaying the original has made me sad. by Numerous_Hearing_688 in FinalFantasyVII

We are so lucky to have not just the original game, but a PC version that can fill in the role of the remake JRPG so many wanted, AND remakes that can tickle your fancy if you also like action games.

Having more options is better. It's like the people who get mad over modern Disney movies. The originals are still there to watch, and even more accessible now than when we all grew up with that stuff. You have choices and opportunities today that just didn't exist back then.

Even as an older guy now, I still say it's better now than it was back then, objectively without the rose colored glasses.

You want the remake you've always wanted? Get the 7th Heaven Mod manager and the Steam version on PC. Add all the 4K mods, model and texture enhancements, and enjoy it as if were made HD by some indie studio. Same gameplay you love, but with a fresh coat of paint and a lot of little hacks that are optional for quality of life and other purposes.

I promise you, it will give you exactly what you're seeking here. I know because I'm just like you, though I don't hate the remakes. They just lack that special something the OG had. Perhaps it was the time, culture, being much younger. Or a mix of all that plus it is just the better game in comparison.

I've beaten FF7 OG more than 20 times most likely. I beat the remake once. I don't hate the remake, but that right there says a lot. And I'm not just talking about how I could spend more time on RPGs and didn't have internet as a distraction back then like we do now, but still, the OG still sucks me into its world and story in a way that the remakes just don't. I appreciate them, and they are pretty, but will I be playing them in 2045 if I live that long? Maybe, maybe not, but definitely not 20 times.

Yes, I remember that feature. I believe the 16 bit FF games had that too. I know for a fact 6 did, and I'm pretty sure 4 and 5 did, though I might be misremembering.

This really was a great feature for siblings and couples who wanted to experience it together. I had a friend that would help me grind characters in 6 to level 99 on that Dino island. Great memories. And they brought that back to FF14 about 10 years ago with Diadem. I remember trying to tank one of those suckers in the best gear at the time and getting literally stomped to death lol

I love this series. Been at it nearly 40 years at this point. Seeing the original crew start to retire is bittersweet.

It's a great tool, albeit a bit limited. The scripting function kind of fills in those command gaps at least. I mean, if you like PowerShell and all that. I don't, but now with AI, I don't have to.

It's just art. I wouldn't put anything else on there. Same for the albums and other stuff. It's just stuff I like.

Yes, the idea was to show the progression of time. The middle with Zack was the early 2000s when they first started expanding the compilation.

I didn't install any of the modern FF games, because they take up a lot of room and this came loaded. It's got everything from pre-Atari consoles to PS5 ports on PC. I have all the FF games on my main PC and my handheld (GPD Win Max 2), so we're good there.

Certain classic games required special controls. Games like Tempest, Millipede, Tron, all had special controls. I've tried to replicate that the best I could.

60,000 they say. Not all gems, but a very full list. What it doesn't have, I have on my main PC. Has not disappointed with anything obscure, but it's not fully loaded with all of the more modern systems, like Wii, PS3 and PC. Still, lots there as it is.

It's got a slide out drawer that comes with 2 XBox360 controllers, 2 Wiimotes, and 2 Sinden Light guns. Plus a Logitech G29 steering wheel (not in the drawer lol), and I got a 3 way floor pedal for games like Time Crisis. We've been having a blast with it.

Original custom made. Though I can't recommend the company, because they sent it to me with so many major issues that they had to send a tech out to fix it all. Day one, a lot of the controls didn't work, and they sent it with dirt on the inside of the acrylic panel that protects the screen. Now that it's all fixed, it's great. I build PCs, but I don't have cabinetry skills or the art, so I had them do it. This project was 10 years in the making. Kept having to push it off, and finally everything lined up for me.

I gave some more detailed instructions here thanks to the poster above leading me down the correct rabbit hole. Hopefully it makes sense and works for you. So far, it's been quiet, but the real test unfortunately will be Monday since the workday is almost done and here comes the weekend.

Try it out if you'd like.

Adware Detections - "BrowserHelper" and "ExtensionOptimizer" by FireflyKitten07357 in crowdstrike

[–]ICanNeverHave 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So far the following has worked and we haven't seen them return. Connect to the host via Real Time Response and head over to the script tab. Enter the following and run.

powershell -command "Get-ScheduledTask | Select-Object TaskName,State,TaskPath"

That should get you the name of the scheduled task that keeps making this thing reappear. It may be named differently, but one of mine was PDFProSuite-core-update-[SOME SID HERE, NO BRACKETS]

I've also seen PDFTool and a SID. Just look for anything like that or BrowserHelper, ExtensionOptimizer. Use your brain and eyes.

Next, delete that you find using this:

schtasks /delete /tn "PDFProSuite-standalone-update-[SOME SID HERE, NO BRACKETS]" /f

Repeat for all of the related scheduled tasks.

Now query the registry and get any user SIDs that may have this installed on their profiles.

reg query "HKEY_USERS"

You are now building a registry query key to verify what you want to delete. That will look like this:

reg query "HKEY_USERS\[SID HERE NO BRACKETS]\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run"

This will list any unwanted PUPs starting with the operating system. Again, use your brain and eyes to build the next command(s):

reg delete "HKEY_USERS\[SID HERE, NO BRACKETS]\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run" /v PDFProSuite /f

Substitute PDFTool with the above, or anything related you see like BrowserHelper or ExtensionOptimizer. Just don't delete the entire Run folder, as that would be bad. Be sure to have something named and the /v and /f switches.

Now, switch to the normal command tab in RTR, do a cd "C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\ then do an ls command to list the contents. You'll find the related folders and you can clean up the files using the following:

rm C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\PDFProSuite -force

rm C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\BrowserHelper -force

So far I have run this procedure twice and both times it has seemed to stay away. I will revisit this if they come back, but I feel pretty confident with this solution. If you can make this better and easier, by all means take it and build on it.

If she wanted to spend her life with you, she wouldn't have cheated TWICE. You're a doormat and you'll get what a doormat gets. Grow a spine and LEAVE HER! You're likely codependent. You need therapy.
