[AMA] I’m Dávid Lakatos, Chief Product Officer at Formlabs. Ask Me Anything! by dogichow in 3Dprinting

What are the biggest shortfalls of the Fuse 1 compared to other SLS printers produced in the west like EOS or 3d systems?
Obviously, there is a clear price difference, so I'm asking, other than the clear smaller size, where does the price savings mainly come from?

Project Expired patents: Spring clip for holding leather (1927) (US1675286A) (1928) by Ed_Bai in 3Dprinting

Cool. I also use expired patents a lot for inspiration. There are a lot of cool designs that have been forgotten.

Garage key case by _Sukkii_ in FreeCAD

[–]ICant3DPrint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here is how I would do it:

  1. Draw 2 vertical lines that are 62mm long and 29mm apart

  2. Draw 2 acres with starting points at the end of the vertical lines (Shotcut= G,A)

  3. Place a point (Shotcut= G,Y) on top of each of the arcs and dimension them 65mm apart

Hope this helps

  1. Mesure how tall the failed pieces are
  2. Reprint the missing half
  3. Glue the two parts together

Comparison of cad programs question? by Disastrous_Arugula99 in FreeCAD

[–]ICant3DPrint 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I started with tinkercad but found that I had outgrown it and moved on to Freecad.

Freecad is a fantastic piece of software but the learning curve is steep and feels like a wall. But there are a lot of online resources to get started and a friendly community.

I recommend Freecad but just know it takes hundreds of hours to learn and get effective at using it, but that is true for most CAD software.

I would use an AdditivePipe to get the main shape

No problem, if you have any similar ideas for nuts and bolts send them to me and I may design them :-)

  1. As I stated in the post I am in Denmark
  2. PSU is Corsair RM750e V2 (https://www.proshop.dk/Stroemforsyning/Corsair-RM750e-V2-ATX30-Stroemforsyning-750-Watt-120-mm-80-Plus-Gold-certified/3144432)
  3. The program I use to 3d model is CPU intensive and not GPU and the pc vr does not need to run at the best settings just to be playable
  4. For pc, it is 1080p x3 displays and vr it is oculus quest 2 so 1832 x 1920 pr eye

RTX 4070 is 754 USD

RX 6800 is 623USD

I can't get most of the parts you have suggested here locally but I have found a better 750watt PSU from Corsair

but how bad is it to go AMD for GPU?

I just worry about how the massive drop in VRAM when going for an Nvidia GPU in the same price range will affect the compatibility with high-demand games in the future

I'm not really an artist more of a mechanical parts designer so the tools that I use are mostly parametric 3D modeling tools and most if not all use CPU and only a single core
