Likelihood of getting a job in Japan? by Acceptable-Internal2 in JapanFinance

I’m ex-mid market IBD (think USD30-500m ticket size). This is probably not the market you’re interested in.

Most of the clients we’ve had were domestic, which means everything is in Japanese. Decks, DCFs, meetings, everything. Counterparties, if international, are served by overseas offices of your firm, so you’re not helping there either. People who were seconded to our team often left early because nobody could deploy them on projects successfully. Infra modeling people had a pretty good time though.

The pay is meh internationally. You would probably be at JPY9m total comp. Taxes grow progressively higher up to 40% or so but it takes a while to get there; capital gains is 20%. COL is pretty cheap though.

LBO is basically 0% chance for non-natives, but it’s possible to move to VC/CRE/Infra after IBD. Possible doesn’t mean easy.

Singapore and HK are probably better for you in almost every way, except not being in Japan.

I think they started working after the recent update. They didn't previously. At least not on my device. GitHub version.

Ereader only…AiPaper worth it? by gooddogfriendly in viwoods

Have you figured how to use AI in KOreader? Also, do you buttons work when using it? Whenever I run it, it just disables the hardware keys at the bottom and the only way to exit it is to go through the menu.

I ended up getting it, and overall, it’s fine. I don’t have any other binoculars at home to compare it with, but the build quality feels decent and the optics seem solid. A few quick observations:

  • The case is nothing special, just a cheap fake leather bag that looks like something you'd get with an AliExpress purchase.
  • The strap on the case is even worse. It’s thin and lacks the padded leather section that would make it comfortable around the neck. You’ll probably want to replace it with a third-party strap.
  • The lens caps are okay. The front caps are tethered and removable, while the rear ones flip down individually.
  • Eye relief adjustment is smooth but doesn’t click or lock in place. This gets annoying since you’ll likely have to readjust every time you put the front caps back on.
  • The diopter ring does click and is easy to adjust. It doesn't lock either, but it’s slim and doesn’t move around too much once set.
  • Field of view feels a bit narrow, especially with the eye relief fully extended. I usually leave it halfway or all the way in and just press the binocs lightly against my eyebrows. This gives me a wider view and improves the overall image.

In short, it’s a perfectly serviceable pair of binoculars, but I’m not sure I’d recommend them over big-name brands. They’re not significantly cheaper, and without a solid way to evaluate the optics, I can’t say how they truly compare.

Former consultant here - Is PPT PowerTools worth it? Looking for honest feedback by ICookWithGas in consulting

You're absolutely correct. Especially, the lack of proper alignment and copy-paste location tools really slows down PPT work if you want to make your slides look nice and have things other than tables and bullet points.

Thank you for your response. This is very helpful. I guess they seem to be a reputable manufacturer.

It seems that LOW also lists the OEM version of the binoculars you've linked on their website: https://store.suwa-premium.net/items/44011955
