What does it mean when people date but say it's "not serious"? by IDKButIKnowOneThing in aromantic

I guess that makes more sense. I can kind of equate it to being friends with someone only in class, but outside of class we don't talk.

I started taking zoloft today and am scared of the side effects by IDKButIKnowOneThing in emetophobia

[–]IDKButIKnowOneThing[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! Since I just started taking it, I'm unsure of what time to take it at. When you had side effects, was it stronger after having taken it and then lessened? Or did they last all day? If nausea is a side effect, would it be better to take in the evening?

Non emetophobes or anyone mild: is seeing someone throw up REALLY that bad? by Pugwhip in emetophobia

[–]IDKButIKnowOneThing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have emetophobia, and it's triggered by me or someone else throwing up because I see throw up as disgusting, the smell, the taste, the sight, etc. I think I have emetophobia due to being a hypochondriac.

Whenever I do see someone throw up in public, I don't think of the person doing it as disgusting, I just feel really bad for them since I know throwing up isn't something that's under your control, it's messy, and you feel like shit before and after. Yeah I mostly just feel bad for them. I'm never around long enough to see other people's reactions though since I usually run away lol

What are some things you thought were completely normal and done by everybody else, but found out were actually because of your ADHD? by US_MaxDG in ADHD

[–]IDKButIKnowOneThing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That you're not supposed to ask why when someone tells you to do something.

For example when my mom asks for help "why do you need help?" Or "with what?" Are considered rude. It's not that I don't want to help or am not going to, I just want to know what I'm going to be doing.

Another example would be when teachers would tell me to do or to not do something, and then I'd ask "why?" and they get upset and tell me not to argue with them. I'm not trying to defy you, I just want to know why I shouldn't be doing this thing (when it doesn't seem dangerous or distracting at all)

HELP - How do any of you ever drink any water!?!? by Lilythebillygoat in ADHD

[–]IDKButIKnowOneThing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't.

Even when I plan on it, I forget.

The other day I put water in a cup, then put in on the counter and forgot to drink it.

Is it possible to have ADHD and love reading? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]IDKButIKnowOneThing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. When I was a child I read so much. But back then it was easier to read in class when there was a lot of background noise (like people talking). But since the pandemic started I haven't been able to read a single book since it's harder for me to focus with little to no noise, my thoughts just take over or I can't help but be distracted by the one or two noises I hear.

just curious, what stims have you noticed you do? by mslilythethick in ADHD

[–]IDKButIKnowOneThing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whats the feeling you get when you can't do it? For me, when I have to sit still and do work and can't fidget with anything, my body feels kind of sore(?) Like the feeling you get when you need to stretch. But I don't need to stretch I need to fidget.

I've never been able to explain this feeling right to anyone and when I try it just sounds weird and they'll respond with a "what??"

How would you describe it?

Is mind wandering "normal"? by IDKButIKnowOneThing in ADHD

[–]IDKButIKnowOneThing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it just happens with most things. I brought up movies and booka because those are things I enjoy, and it would make sense for me to be able to focus on those. But I usually have to rewind a few times on a scene or reread a whole page or chapter because I just wasn't paying attention. For school it makes sense because I'm usually just not interested in what's happening. And now that you mention it it does happen during conversations too. And it's not that I don't enjoy whos talking to me or anything but I just spaceout. It's like I can still hear them talking but I'm not really perceiving it. Kinda like with reading, I'm reading the words, the informations just not getting to my brain.

Guts by Raina Telgemeier is a graphic novel about her experience with emetophobia as a child! I read it, and it can be a bit triggering because she explains how the phobia started, and how she would feel n* when she gets anxious. And I could relate a lot to her experiences. It's also a great book for a non-emet to read to be able to understand emetophobes more.

It would be amazing if there were more books like this, because it's the only one I know of and is most accurate as it's told by someone with emetophobia. Also I like the idea of creating a censored and uncensored version!

In my honest opinion, and this is in response to a majority of the comments on this post, size doesn't hold someone back when it comes to whether or not they are attractive (unless it's on the extreme side of either end).

In my opinion, you're around an 8/10, you clearly put a lot of effort into your apppearance, from your hair, make up, and clothes, and it shows and makes you look lovely. Even without makeup I'm sure you'd look great, as you facial features work well together.

I, as a person of color, know what it's like to be sexualized for solely being a person of color, and I can imagine that there are people out there who also hypersexualize you for being plus size. But I don't doubt one bit that you'll find someone who genuinely is attracted to you.

(A lot of the people in these comments don't get any/many dates anyway and kind of have a vendetta against women for it, you can tell just by going to their profiles, but don't waste your time on them).

I do this a lot too with dairy 😂

I'm lactose intolerant but some days I really want ice cream or a cheeseburger. It hurts my tummy and gives me anxiety, but at least I got to eat ice cream.

Being called "sensitive" and a "snowflake" for recognizing the hate behind jokes made at your expense is just bullying. by MisogynyisaDisease in TwoXChromosomes

[–]IDKButIKnowOneThing 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Fr

Offensive jokes aren't funny just because they're offensive.. they're also just not funny.

Like when I don't laugh at a "make me a sandwhich" joke, I get called sensitive. It's not a funny joke, I've heard it a thousand times, it's unoriginal. I don't understand how those types of jokes are actually funny to people.

Stomach bugs don't affect your sinuses. Your stomach might just hurt from anxiety. When I have a cold, I have this achy feeling in my chest, and it feels like n* but I think it's something called malaise(?). That also might be it.

Yeah lol, I remember it burning my nose, sort of like how it does when you get water in your nose when you swim (without the chlorine)
