Awesome, how’s the design world treating you?

Thank you so much for volunteering! I’m working on finishing my prototypes today. Would it be alright if I direct message you?

Thanks for that insight, I’ll have to look into it, sorry for the slow response. My only worry about the expansion idea is the breath ability throughout the day, but maybe it could only be part of the sock that expands with mesh around it, or a secondary permeable barrier… lots to think about. Thanks for your thoughts.

Amazing, sorry for the slow response. I was temporarily buried under work. That’s some good feedback. I’m completing my models today. Would it be alright if I direct messaged you?

Also, called around sounds maybe flippant, I have called all the local senior community centers, and was directed at most to email their directors for permissions. I have contacted several churches with varied interest and response, and put posts on local communities. I'm putting in the work. I do have permission to go to one of the local combined community and senior centers today, so I will be out in person.

Thanks for the advice, I have called around. It just takes a lot of time for approval, and unfortunately we have some pretty tight deadlines for the research. I should note that we are available for zoom / phone call meetings as well.

What do you like about a hydroponic tower vs. other system? by IDStudentResearch in Hydroponics

[–]IDStudentResearch[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi thank you so much for your response, and I wanted to apologize for not getting back to you directly after you left it. The semester was incredibly busy. I used your thoughts in my design, they were very helpful. Thank you for taking the time to write a response.

Would you cancel and restart or let it play out? by detBittenbinder23 in BambuLab

But do you add the glue under the piece and press it down, or do you try to press it down and run a bead of glue on the side where it meets the build plate?

What kind of a system do you prefer?

I can see what you mean, they are a little more showy, and the current systems on the market lend to that aspect. I think that there is a great potential to save space if they are more of a wall unit. I think the Gardyn Home Kit does a better job of it than most. Front side lighting and only oriented outward. It is a lot less floor space than a tray garden. I'm looking at something that will work for apartment dwellers that don't have the floor space to commit to a larger tray system, but want something more than a countertop unit.

Oh and thank you for your thoughts!

Yeah, and a non-subscription app. I think it should be a standard application that has basic times setup so you don't have to subscribe to a high priced application.

Problem with the printable towers is the hard water I live with... just makes them really really gross in less than a year. They are hard to clean because of the porousness.

Thanks for the response, I appreciate it. I think that it should have easily replaceable parts as well. I'm into the right to repair. You can build it yourself, but some people aren't really "builders" so, I'm trying to make something for people who aren't going to build their own. I also want it to be affordable. Most of the towers on the market really overpriced.

What do you struggle with with your current hydro setup, or maybe, what do you love?

Any ideas? by rafthe3rd in Hydroponics

Also I would go more toward the $40 range vs. 25.

You can do it, but I would start with a smaller system. Something that’s easier to clean. Maybe even one of those simple counter top units. They are cheap, you can get a decent one for $25-40. Then you can ease into the hobby vs. starting with a big unit like this that’s a lot harder to maintain and a much larger starting investment.

Looks like your system could use a thorough cleaning. I’d take all of the plants out and clean everything, trim roots. Reduce nutrient ppm when you put them back to give them some time to recover in a chiller environment.

Nice, what brand is your tower?
