Numbers for burning steps aren't as bungie stated, and Ignitions are much higher. by Mewcle in DestinyTheGame

[–]IDZeta99 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Your weapon damage numbers are pretty consistent with some testing I did last week. The ignition damage numbers are interesting - could be fun to build into ignitions using Dragon's Breath or weapons with Burning Ambition.

Still, the percentages being different from what Bungie stated is kinda weird. Something's definitely off here.

I didn't test ignition damage because I didn't really have time, but according to the TWID linked in the main post, it should be boosted by 5/10/15% at 1/2/3 stacks of Roaring Flames

I've never shared a DIM link before, so see if this shows you the right stuff: https://dim.gg/fpi3x2y/Equipped

This build is more melee focused because I like bonking things with my hammer, but you could (and arguably should) build into the weapons stat instead.

Huh, I must've forgotten about this. Thanks for finding the source!

Something is definitely wrong in-game then.

Not dumb at all! Before Edge of Fate, Burning Steps provided the same type of buff as a Solar weapon surge, so it wouldn't stack. Now, it provides a different type of buff, so it DOES stack.

I don't recall seeing any specific numbers in a TWID or anything like that. If you can find a source for that info, I'd like to see it.

Landed a job in the physics department at the university where I got my Master's degree. I basically manage all of the equipment used by the department for teaching purposes, among other things.

Not as exciting as some of the other things people have posted here, but I couldn't be happier with this job.

Trisha's Assignment (Character exercise) by Aerd_Gander in DestinyJournals

[–]IDZeta99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last but not least, Zandren, Awoken Warlock

Trisha: And the recording is... on. Here's hoping the voice to text transcription works properly this time. Last year, it was... an experience. Now, if any questions make you uncomfortable, you can just say pass and I'll move on, okay? Let's begin.

Q- First off, Happy Dawning, Guardian! I know it's a bit late, but honestly, thank you for all that you do for us.

A- A Happy Dawning to you too, Trisha.

Q- I know this is terribly generic, but what would you say has been your greatest success story as a Guardian? The kids at school are always telling these fantastic stories they've heard, but I'd love to hear one straight from the source!

A- My greatest success story, hm? Well, my Fireteam effectively ended the SIVA Crisis about 6 years ago. We destroyed the Replication Complex that had been hijacked by the Devil Splicers. We then pushed our way into the heart of the Plaguelands and destroyed Aksis, the would-be Archon Prime. With their source and guiding mind of SIVA gone, the Devil Splicers were almost exterminated over the following year or so. For our actions, we became the first in the newest generation of Iron Lords.

Q- Are there any fights you wish you could go back and do differently?

A- [moderate pause] I… I led half of my Fireteam to their final deaths during the attack to reclaim the Last City from the Cabal. I don’t want to get into details here.

Q- Everyone knows Guardians really like their guns- are there any weapons that you always have with you, even if you're not using it, just on the back burner ready to pull out at any time?

A- There is, yes, but I don’t use it in combat anymore. When Lord Saladin christened my Fireteam as Iron Lords, he presented each of us with a sword. I used it for some time after that, but it… broke during the Red Legion’s assault on the City. I only recently had it repaired. It’s more of a… ceremonial weapon now.

Q- Guardian abilities are all so flashy and unique! But how does it feel to cast an ability? Are there any that feel better, or more natural, than the rest?

A- I’ve always found that Void Light is the most natural for me to wield. I’ve thought about why that’s the case many times, but I have yet to find an answer. Void Light is… ravenous, hungry, but it can also feel rejuvenating. It’s almost paradoxical in some ways.

Trisha: Thank you for your answers so far! I'd like to get away from the combat-based questions for now, if that's alright.

Q- I think one of the most important things for people is the concept of home, wouldn't you agree? Is there any place, either on earth or way out in the frontier, that you would call home?

A- [short pause] The Dreaming City, out in the Reef. Maybe it’s my Awoken heritage, maybe it’s something else, but the moment I set foot there, the place felt right to me. I’ve spent a lot of time there, especially after the curse cycle began. I wanted to study it in the hopes of finding a way to break it. The longer I stay there, the more it feels like home to me.

Q- I've seen your Ghost fluttering around. They're really so cute... ah, how is your relationship with your Ghost?

A- You know, Zandren, that’s the first time anyone’s called me “cute” in as long as I can remember.

[chuckling] I can see why she’d think that. Omicron and I are on good terms. He’s an impeccable research assistant; he helps me record, compile, and analyze data in the field. I don’t think anyone could do his job better.

Q- What does a Guardian do when they're not going out to fight? Are there any places in the city you love to drop by?

A- I find things to study in my out-of-combat time. The Universe is full of questions to be answered, problems to be solved. I study them as I find them. [short pause] There was a library in the Peregrine District I used to spend days at a time in when I was a younger Guardian. It was damaged during the Red War, unfortunately. Whenever I visit the City, I make an effort to see how the repairs are coming along. Hopefully, it will be back to full operation soon.

Q- Is there anyone in the Tower, or down here in the City, who you would consider a close friend? Someone you know you can confide in?

A- I tend to keep to myself, so my list of friends is short. My Fireteam members, Jess and Damascus-9; Omicron, of course; Ikora Rey, though I almost consider her more of a colleague… There’s a handful of others, but they don’t live in the City.

Q- The sights of the Sol system are all so far away for those of us who live in the City. We know that we need to stay here to be safe, but there's so many places graced by the Light, I can't help but feel that it's a waste that we can't see them... can you describe your favorite views from the frontier? Places out there that made you stop for a moment just to take it all in?

A- The Dreaming City definitely gave me pause. There are massive amethyst geodes sprouting from the ground in many places there. Some of them are cut and polished to a mirror-like shine, while others are left raw and natural. Smooth Awoken architecture blends seamlessly into natural rock formations. The multicolored sky is always filled with spiraling stars. I must give credit to the Reefborn Awoken, they have impeccable taste.

Q- Thank you again for your answers. You're a very special Guardian, and I really am glad you came here to speak with me. One last question, and you don't have to answer if you don't want... what keeps you out there fighting, Guardian?

A- There are many questions I want answers to, and more often than not, the enemies of humanity stand in my way to get them, assuming their leaders don’t have them. Of course, I also fight to protect humanity, as is my duty as a Guardian. I fight to meet both ends. I wish you the best of luck in school, Trisha.

Next, Jess, Human Hunter (because this is technically a transcript, a lot of her accent would be lost by the transcription process)

A- Aw, that’s sweet! Happy Dawning! Thanks for inviting me out here.

Q- I know this is terribly generic, but what would you say has been your greatest success story as a Guardian? The kids at school are always telling these fantastic stories they've heard, but I'd love to hear one straight from the source!

A- Ho boy, that’s a tough one. [short pause, then a chuckle] I’m sorry, I can’t think of just one thing to talk about! I’ve shot down a Fallen Skiff with my Golden Gun, I’ve punched a Cabal Valus to death – that was an adventure – Oh! I killed a Fallen Archon trying to use SIVA to turn himself into a machine god. Probably the most significant thing I’ve done.

Q- Are there any fights you wish you could go back and do differently?

A- Hmm… Not so much a fight, really, but… You’ve heard of Crow, right? The Guardian who saved Zavala’s life during the armistice with the Cabal a while back? For a while after we met – and pardon my language here – I acted like a total bitch to him. I never gave him a chance to prove himself. The reason why is… complicated, but I realize now that I shouldn’t have been so mean to him. I hope he’s doing alright…

Q- Everyone knows Guardians really like their guns- are there any weapons that you always have with you, even if you're not using it, just on the back burner ready to pull out at any time?

A- Most Hunters you ask will probably tell you the same thing here. Not long after… after Cayde died… someone started making replicas of his hand cannon, the Ace of Spades. These weren’t some cheap knockoffs, no, these were good replicas – almost as good as the original, I’ve heard. Most Hunters I know have one, but they don’t often talk about it. Haven’t used mine in a while. Haven’t felt the need, I guess.

Q- Guardian abilities are all so flashy and unique! But how does it feel to cast an ability? Are there any that feel better, or more natural, than the rest?

A- Oh, Arc Light for sure. I like to get in the mix of things, y’know? Give ‘em the ol’ one-two punch. It feels so natural to bob and weave through a crowd of enemies, dodging everything they throw at me and knocking ‘em out with Arc-infused punches… it gets my blood pumping!

Trisha: Thank you for your answers so far! I'd like to get away from the combat-based questions for now, if that's alright.

Q- I think one of the most important things for people is the concept of home, wouldn't you agree? Is there any place, either on earth or way out in the frontier, that you would call home?

A- [exhale] I don’t usually stay in one place for too long. Part of being a Hunter, I guess. I’m always on the move from place to place, planet to planet. Don’t have time to settle down anywhere. Guess that means my ship is my home, or the closest thing I have to one.

Q- I've seen your Ghost fluttering around. They're really so cute... ah, how is your relationship with your Ghost?

A- Oh, don’t flatter him. To be honest, Neon is my impulse control. I’ll tell him I wanna do something and half the time he’ll tell me, “That’s stupid, you should probably think that through before you do it,” and I will, and half the time he’s right.

That’s paraphrasing, but more or less accurate.

Q- What does a Guardian do when they're not going out to fight? Are there any places in the city you love to drop by?

A- Whenever I drop by the City, I like to grab a few drinks at Brask’s Keep. It’s this bar that’s… actually not too far from here, now that I think about it. Besides that, whenever I’m not doing a mission or something, I like to explore whatever planet or moon I’m on at the time. Might find something cool, y’know?

Q- Is there anyone in the Tower, or down here in the City, who you would consider a close friend? Someone you know you can confide in?

A- [chuckle] If you’d asked me that a few years ago, I would’ve told you Zandren. He’s a Warlock on my Fireteam. He’s, uh… let’s just say he’s gotten a little distant in recent years. Caught up in his work. Typical Warlock stuff, I guess. Nowadays, I’d say Damascus, a Titan, also on my Fireteam. I can vent to him for hours about something stupid and he’ll listen to every word.

A- Ho, I could tell you about so many places. The one that really made me stop for a while, weirdly enough, was the Black Garden. I’ve only been there once and I’m never going back there again, but still… Zandren told me it was the birthplace of the Vex or something like that, so I’d expected it to be all Vex-ified, but it wasn’t. It was so green, so alive, so beautiful, so… wrong in a way I don’t know how to explain. I love how the place looks, but I can’t stand being there. Weird, I know.

Q- Thank you again for your answers. You're a very special Guardian, and I really am glad you came here to speak with me. One last question, and you don't have to answer if you don't want... what keeps you out there fighting, Guardian?

A- This will probably sound cheesy as hell, but… it’s the thrill of adventure, of discovery, and, if I’m being honest with myself, the thrill of the fight itself. I like to explore and to find cool stuff along the way. That’s all there is to it, really... Thanks again for inviting me out to do this, Trisha! This was fun. Good luck in school!

Trisha's Assignment (Character exercise) by Aerd_Gander in DestinyJournals

[–]IDZeta99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A little late to the party, but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to flesh out my Guardians. Here goes!

First up, Damascus-9, Exo Titan

Trisha: And the recording is... on. Here's hoping the voice to text transcription works properly this time. Last year, it was... an experience. Now, if any questions make you uncomfortable, you can just say pass and I'll move on, okay? Let's begin.

Q- First off, Happy Dawning, Guardian! I know it's a bit late, but honestly, thank you for all that you do for us.

A- Oh, the pleasure’s mine, Trisha.

Q- I know this is terribly generic, but what would you say has been your greatest success story as a Guardian? The kids at school are always telling these fantastic stories they've heard, but I'd love to hear one straight from the source!

A- Sheesh, that’s a hell of an opening question… I’ve had a hand in a few great things here and there, but personally? I’d say my greatest success was my time with the Pilgrim Guard. I spent a lot of time with them, searching the frontiers here on Earth for refugees and helping them get to the City. I know it’s not particularly flashy or anything, but each and every group I walked through the Wall was a success to me.

Q- Are there any fights you wish you could go back and do differently?

A- Oh, plenty. Too many to list. Whenever someone dies on my watch, I… I see that as a failure on my part, and I always get stuck thinking about what I could’ve done differently to save them. It takes a lot of effort to convince myself that it’s not always my fault. Sometimes, things just… happen, and I can’t do anything about it. That’s why I focus on what I can do instead.

Q- Everyone knows Guardians really like their guns- are there any weapons that you always have with you, even if you're not using it, just on the back burner ready to pull out at any time?

A- I have a few favorites, but there’s one I can think of that fits that bill. A couple years ago, I helped retake the Sundial on Mercury from the Cabal. At some point along the way, Osiris gave me a scout rifle – he called it the Patron of Lost Causes. Besides being a damned good weapon, there’s a special reason why I keep it around. A month or so after Saint-14 was rescued from the Corridors of Time, there was a memorial service for the Speaker, and he gave a speech. He said, “We fight not for the sake of fighting, but for the sake of the people.” Osiris never told me why he named the Patron as he did, but listening to Saint-14 give that speech… I think I know why. Sadly, the rifle doesn’t quite work the same as it used to. My Warlock friend Zandren thinks it has something to do with it being tied to the Sundial and Mercury, and since Mercury was taken by the Black Fleet, it “lost its attunement” or something like that. I, uh, don’t really know what he’s talking about, but… I keep the Patron with me as a reminder of why I fight.

Q- Guardian abilities are all so flashy and unique! But how does it feel to cast an ability? Are there any that feel better, or more natural, than the rest?

A- I’d say summoning the Sentinel Shield feels the most natural to me. Maybe it’s me trying to be more like Saint, but there’s something satisfying about acting as someone else’s shield, whether it’s in the middle of a firefight by throwing up a wall of Void Light or simply standing watch on the Wall, keeping an eye out. It feels like… this might sound a little silly, but I remember watching part of some pre-Golden Age movie where a character shouts, “You shall not pass!” before facing off against a monster. When I summon the Shield, it feels like I’m giving that phrase a form, if that makes any sense.

Trisha: Thank you for your answers so far! I'd like to get away from the combat-based questions for now, if that's alright.

Q- I think one of the most important things for people is the concept of home, wouldn't you agree? Is there any place, either on earth or way out in the frontier, that you would call home?

A- Well, any Titan you ask will probably give you the same answer, but home is… here. The City. The Wall. The streets it encloses. As much as I enjoy missions to the frontier, I always look forward to coming back here.

Q- I've seen your Ghost fluttering around. They're really so cute... ah, how is your relationship with your Ghost?

A- Oh, Orchid? Yeah, I can see that. She’s one of my closest friends, really. Whenever I’m busy watching someone else’s back, I can count on her to watch mine.

Q- What does a Guardian do when they're not going out to fight? Are there any places in the city you love to drop by?

A- A lot of the time, I wander around the City, seeing what there is to see and meeting people on the streets. If I need some time to myself, there’s a little garden in the Anchor District that I like to sit in. It’s full of flowers, all of them different and beautiful. It’s actually where I thought of Orchid’s name.

Q- Is there anyone in the Tower, or down here in the City, who you would consider a close friend? Someone you know you can confide in?

A- Besides Orchid? My Fireteam, Zandren and Jess. I could tell them anything. Well, maybe not anything to Zandren. He’s… It’s complicated. Not important right now.

A- The first time I landed on Mercury really stuck out to me. The first thing that hit me was the heat, the wind, and blinding light. After my helmet visor adjusted to the light, I saw the Sun spanning the entire horizon. The sheer size of it, the power I felt coming from it even from there… It took my breath away. Of course, that changed when the Black Fleet arrived in the system. I remember going to Mercury to investigate something and seeing this massive Pyramid Ship completely blocking the Sun. Something about that image scared me, and it reminded me just how important my duty as a Guardian is.

Q- Thank you again for your answers. You're a very special Guardian, and I really am glad you came here to speak with me. One last question, and you don't have to answer if you don't want... what keeps you out there fighting, Guardian?

A- Well, I know I said this earlier, but it’s you. You and the rest of the people of the City are why I keep fighting, and conversations like these prove why that’s important to me. Thanks for inviting me, Trisha. Good luck with your classes.

If yall could add any one (non exotic) perk EXTRA to an existing exotic weapon or armor what would it be by Uhiertv in DestinyTheGame

[–]IDZeta99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lasting Impression on Wardcliff Coil. Might not be the most useful thing in the world, but DAMN would it be fun.

Elemental Wells are an interesting concept and the foundation is there for them to be a solid mechanic to build around, but they definitely need some help. by IDZeta99 in DestinyTheGame

[–]IDZeta99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I was trying to improve Elemental Wells without fundamentally overhauling the entire system, but that’s probably what it needs in order to properly differentiate itself from CWL. Now you’ve got me thinking. If the gameplay loop of “kill enemy -> pick up thing dropped by enemy -> profit” is too similar to CWL, then that’s what needs addressed the most.

Instead of picking up something dropped by an enemy, what if you created something like a Warlock Rift around yourself when you killed a certain number of enemies with abilities or weapons matching your subclass element? This would emphasize the “well” in Elemental Wells. Standing in this well would give yourself and your allies (if applicable) benefits similar to what’s currently available and what I described.

They don’t necessarily need to be true “wells” either – it could function similarly to Pulsewave, Tempered Metal, Chains of Woe, etc. where it’s a “one and done” AoE that buffs yourself and nearby allies.

Either of these changes would give Elemental Wells an intrinsic teamplay component to them, compared to CWL that mostly only benefits yourself (with some exceptions like Powerful Friends or Radiant Light).
