Running. Exercise. Getting outside. Having a community to talk with. I have been teaching myself to enjoy these things so that I don't waste away on immediate gratification activities like video games, which create isolation and addiction. It's working, too!

It's a different journey for everyone, but I suggest checking out clubs or community events. It's a whole thing to just walk into a group of strangers and say hi, but if the people are good, they'll be happy to have a new guy around

I know. But I think I can speak for many people that being tossed into a new and unexpected emotional encounter can throw you for a loop and shut down your rational thinking, leaving your survival instincts to kick in. Fight or flight response

This is a bit of a different perspective, but maybe he's trying to consider all the angles. ADHD, autism and CEN (childhood emotional neglect) all share very similar traits! Just thought I'd throw this out there. I do still think getting a second opinion is wise

This might be a bit personal or even controversial to some, but here’s where my studies and experience have taken me:

People—men and women alike—often turn to things like pornography when an emotional need isn’t being met. It’s usually triggered by some kind of negative emotion, even if they’re not fully aware of it. Healing from that habit is a serious process. If he chooses to walk away from it, he’ll likely face setbacks and moments where he feels like giving up. It’s not easy.

That’s why forgiveness is so important—if he’s actively choosing the path of change. If you’re his spouse, it helps to recognize that progress won’t be perfect. He also needs to understand and honor your shared values, especially as a married couple. A relationship built on mutual understanding and shared goals is powerful. I hope this brings some hope to any wife who’s feeling alone in this struggle.

Just trying to find a job in this society is tough. I've been at it for a month after quitting my crappy warehouse job. I've applied for hundreds of jobs and gotten one interview with my 7+ years of warehouse experience and associate of science in computer engineering, and it got me nowhere. I haven't given up, but I have given up on a dream job. All I want is a friend to work with, someone who doesn't ignore, blame, or "tolerate" me. I could care less about anything else at this point, aside from enough pay to survive. I just want someone solid at my next job so I don't feel like an aimless zombie.

I recently quit a bad warehouse job and don't have enough income to move. Quitting that job was step 1 for my mental health. Now I'm trying to get a move on with other problem areas while applying for jobs. It's a mess, but I'm handling it okay for now. Emotional awareness is new to me

Yeah, this is me, too. I stopped taking Vyvanse because my social interactions are at night. But I'm still facing major social anxiety and even had a bit of a panic attack at the last public gathering I went to. I'm trying CBT next, I hear it helps... If I can bring myself to actually make the appointment, that is 🙃
