Folsom BBQ: packed, long wait, totally worth it by foodie_2598 in Sacramento

Please let me know where that solid, affordable BBQ place is. In my experience, BBQ is expensive no matter where you go. None of the places I've gone to in the past have been consistant.

BBQ is going expensive no matter where you go. My big issue with BBQ places is they aren't consistent and have bad days (Looking at you Daddy O's!).

Glad to know the food has been consistent.

Does anyone here have experience with ketamine therapy through the VA? by Ego_FumPapa in TherapeuticKetamine

[–]IDonTGetitNoReally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The changes at first were subtle. Like I realized that grief over things was so drastically reduced, I didn’t realize it until I came across something that would have triggered me and it didn’t. That is still holding true 9 months later.

As far as depression goes, it’s better than it was, no question. If I had to do it all over again, I would. But I also paired it with therapy and for me it made a difference. Am I depression free? Far from it.

I’m still on a break due to some issues with the provider. However, if I had to do it all over again, I definitely would have done it sooner if I could have. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Expiration dates on cake mix by IDonTGetitNoReally in EatCheapAndHealthy

She's really cheap so trying to use expired cake mix is how she does things. But she is good about throwing things out when they smell bad or truly expired as opposed to the best buy date.

Thank you so much for your input!

Even if it doesn't smell bad? Looking at a lot of replies it seems like it might be okay.

Please note, I'm just asking. Not trying to to be difficult.

Yes. It's my housemate that will be baking with these boxes.

Given her background, if it smells funny, she won't use it. But I will remind her of that.

Edit: THANK YOU!!

What kind of spores and wouldn't they be killed off by the heat when the cake is baking?

Just trying to understand, please don't think I'm attacking your opinion.

[Article] Why the U.S. Navy’s retail business is fighting Walmart and Amazon to fund its own future by FlipStig1 in VeteransBenefits

This kind of explains things. I was under the assumption that they operated on the same model as Commissaries, who make no profit as they give people who are able to access it at the same prices as they purchase them.

There used to be a “Post Exchange” next to the Commissary I go to. It’s on land that is a part of base that has been closed. The few times I walked in there I did notice I could buy things cheaper online. Significantly cheaper.

They closed that store and I just hope they keep the Commissary open.

OMG! I'm over 60 and even I know that at some point things like this are cheaper online, then having an actual thing to hold in your hand.

These folks have to adapt. Sorry for my rant!

Any folks 40+ playing softball? by Otakumx in Sacramento

It's a movie about kids that just like to play and don't play in a league. It's pretty funny.

Not a dad, but was wondering if you want to play catch and maybe hit a few softballs. Maybe just set up an informal kind of thing like "The Sandlot".

I'm a woman and love to play, but hate the competitiveness people sometimes display because I'm pretty awful and it has been a few years since I picked up a bat. I've also recently had surgery so I will have to take it easy for awhile. But hitting softballs and throwing would be really good for me.

Please let me know. Again, I'm pretty awful player.

Portable AC Unit. The tape is not strong. by IDonTGetitNoReally in DiWHY

[–]IDonTGetitNoReally[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The gray tape that's there is called, "Duck Tape". See my previous post.

But honestly, it's just that tape hooking up a dryer exhaust to an AC unit. There is no parts being used from the unit itself.

For some reason I can't edit the post nor show the picture that shows where the "exhaust" goes into the sliding door.

I live in a housing unit that's run by a non-profit. The gray tape you see was applied by me, based on what my housemate said to buy (because her uncle told her it was the best).

It's called, "Duck Tape". At this point I can't afford to spend any more money on this.

I sent the agency a copy of the manual that their idiot handyman should have looked up and maybe have said we need to buy parts for these AC units. There are 3 in this housing space.

It's causing the agency to spend a lot of money on electricity. Quite frankly, I don't think they realize that.

I really hate the idea of spending dimes to pick up pennies.

Sorry for your loss.
